Inexperienced players
The tremendous success of the Bovada online poker room began in 1994 when founder Calvin Ayre established the site under the Bodog brand in Antigua. Growing into a gigantic leader in the online gaming industry, the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group of Kahnawake signed a 2007 licensing agreement allowing the MMGG exclusive rights to operate their online gaming business under the Bodog brand in North America. In December of 2011, the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group chose to re-brand the popular online gaming site with a fresh new name - Bovada.lv - rather than renew their license to continue using the Bodog brand name.

Geared toward players who simply enjoy gambling, Bovada Poker provides players with a fun and relaxing atmosphere in which to play online poker. Bovada employs a knowledgeable customer service staff readily prepared to handle any issue that a Bovada player may encounter via live chat, phone or email. A clear and simple loyalty reward system, a 110% sign-up bonus with Bovada bonus code , and numerous online poker promotions make Bovada Poker that much more inviting to online poker players.

The welcome bonus offered by Bovada Poker pays off immediately with a 10% instant bonus credited to the player's account within half an hour of making their first deposit. As the player earns Bovada Poker Points in real money online poker games, they can potentially acquire a total of up to $1.100 in Bovada bonus cash over the next 60 days, depending on how many poker points they obtain within the specified time limit.

Bovada Poker's loyalty system allows patrons to trade in their poker points for cash. Up to $250 a month can be made by players who exchange their poker points at Bovada Poker. Every 100 poker points is equivalent to one dollar, which is awarded in the form of a bonus. Standard Bovada Poker rollover rules apply to the bonuses players earn with their Bovada Poker Points.

Players looking to build up their bankroll have two chances every day with the Bovada Poker daily freerolls. Each of the freeroll tournaments offer a guaranteed $500 prize pool, and allow players to re-buy and add-on at $1 each in the first hour and five-minute break of the tournament.

The weekly $100K guaranteed tournament runs every Sunday. Players can win a seat in the $150+$12 online poker tournament for as little as $1 playing the daily $100K guaranteed tournament qualifiers. Bovada Poker also hosts qualifiers with poker point buy-ins ranging from 750 points to 1000 points.

An innovative and highly customizable poker client gives Windows users secure and stable access to all of the Bovada Poker cash games and online poker tournaments. The constantly evolving Bovada download offers players access to Texas Hold'em, Omaha and 7 Card Stud cash game and tournament variants.

An online poker room with the recreational gambler in mind, Bovada Poker appeals mainly to casual online poker players. While the games are predominately soft and loose, especially at the lower limits, many grinders simply do not have the patience to play only four online poker tables at once. Bovada Poker, therefore, is ideal for new online poker players, or recreational players who do not wish to juggle more than a few tables at once.

Online poker players who make their first real money deposit can potentially earn up to a 110% Bovada Poker bonus with our exclusive Bovada Poker bonus code, . First, players receive an instant 10% bonus on their first deposit, and another $10 of the bonus when they have accumulated 100 points. Then, when the player reaches a total of 500 points, the player receives an additional $40 of their Bovada Poker bonus. As the player gains points, they will continue to receive chunks of the Bovada Poker bonus until it is cleared. Players can earn up to $1.100 USD from the Bovada Poker bonus.

An interesting aspect of the Bovada Poker bonus is that not only the first deposit is eligible for the bonus, but any additional deposits made on that same day will also qualify for the 110% Bovada Poker bonus. Additional deposits made on the same day as the very first deposit will be matched 110% if the player earns the required Bovada points within 60 days. This allows players to take full advantage of the Bovada Poker bonus without being limited by a single deposit method's transaction limitations.

100% up to $1.000
110% up to $1.100
No bonus code required
The initial 10% instant Bovada Poker bonus is applied to the very first deposit made by a player, and is typically available to the player for wagering within 30 minutes of the deposit being processed. The number of Bovada poker points required in order to withdraw the bonus dollars varies according to the currency used. Players wagering US dollars are required to earn 3 poker points per dollar of the Bovada Poker bonus. Euros necessitate 5 poker points for each Bovada Poker bonus euro, and sterling require 6 points per bonus sterling.

Bovada Poker Points are gained by participating in real money online poker games at Bovada Poker. Players can earn Bovada Poker Points three ways: playing raked games, paying tournament fees, and for each hour spent playing at real money tables. Online poker players earn points relative to the amount of rake they pay into a pot, 3 Bovada Poker Points for every $1 spent in tournament fees, and 1 point for every hour they spend actively participating at one of Bovada Poker's real money online poker tables.

The remainder of the Bovada Poker bonus is released in levels based on the total number of poker points earned. For each $1 of Bovada Poker bonus, the player will need to obtain 10 Bovada Poker Points. However, the Bovada Poker bonus is released in chunks at point levels of 100, 500, 1500, 3000, 6000, and 10,000. After the player has earned 100 poker points, $10 of the Bovada Poker bonus will be released into their player account. Once the player reaches the 500 point mark, an additional $40 of the remaining bonus will be made available for wagering. At 1500 points, if there are any Bovada Poker bonus dollars remaining, the player will receive $100 - bringing the player's total bonus earned up to $150, plus the initial 10% that was instantly credited.

Each Bovada Poker bonus is issued the next day, after the points required are accumulated. Bovada Poker allows players up to 60 days in which to earn as much of the bonus amount as possible. The portion of the Bovada.lv bonus that is earned off of Poker Points (as opposed to the instant 10% issued immediately after the first deposit) does not have any rollover requirements, and is accessible within 36 hours of achieving the necessary points to release the next tier of the bonus.

Example Bovada Poker Bonus Scenario
After installing the Bovada Poker software and registering an account with the Bovada.lv bonus code , a new player decides to deposit $500 into their account. Within 30 minutes, the player receives $50 of their Bovada Poker bonus, readily available for wagering. The player decides to go ahead and deposit another $500 that same day, thus the second deposit is also applicable to the first deposit Bovada Poker bonus, and qualifies for the 110% Bovada Poker bonus.

Once the player accumulates 100 poker points playing real money Bovada Poker games, the player is issued $10 of the Bovada Poker bonus, bringing their total bonus up to $60 so far. After the player obtains an additional 500 poker points, $40 is released into their account, making the total Bovada Poker bonus amount $100.

When the player has reached 1500 poker points, they will receive another $100 of the Bovada Poker bonus, then $150 more when they acquire a total of 3,000 poker points ($350 Bovada Poker bonus total, so far). At 6,000 poker points, the player obtains $300 of their bonus. The remaining Bovada Poker bonus will be released at 10, 500 poker points if the players earns them all within the 60 day time limit, bringing the total Bovada Poker bonus to $1.100.

Bovada's not bad. It's got a nice interface and a good amount of traffic. I hear they have pretty fast cash-outs too, though I'm a long way from being able to do that. I don't like the anonymous format though. I think part of poker is learning your opponents tendencies and what not.

I really let the anon. issue cloud my objectivity at first...but the more I played and became familar with the software quirks I have become more and more fond of the site...much more traffic at the PLO and PLO8 tables than Lock, Juicy, ACR, and BCP combined plus no where near as many regs as Carbon...recently began playing the 1k thru 6k GTD's and have 3 three digit cashes in last 2 weeks...all in all I'm truly liking this site...good luck all

I've played a lot of Bovada since they changed from Bodog. In my opinion, they're the best option for US players who don't use a HUD during online play. The anonymous feature can be irritating at times but I think that flaw is outweighed by how well the site is managed. The payouts are some of the fastest and most reliable for US players. And their traffic is good in comparison to other US sites. There's also not many poker sites that give you 24hr phone support. I didn't give them 5 stars bc of the anon feature and no p2p, other than that they're great.

This site has a lot of potential. There software has improved and their game offerings are some of the best on the internet for US players. Only thing I dont like is there is no username. You get a different number for every tourney you play in. So you really cant tell if you played the person before, whether he is a shark or a fish. Nevertheless I would probably rate this poker room one of the best options for US players post black Friday.

Ok I went on Bovada to check it out. It was really wierd. From what I could tell They didnt have screen names and you couldnt take notes on players. Each player had a number between 1 and 10 depending on how many ever were at the table. and when you change tables you get a new number. I DONT GET IT. The site is based out of Canada and as a US player I though this is great because my rake would not be going overseas. but not having screen names or notes is stupid.I left the site and didnt try anything else.
would be 1 star but gave them 2 cause its Canada.

For the US there are only a couple sites that i would deposit on at this time and Bovada/Bodog is at the top of the list. they have very soft players now and you can not use huds so there is no advantage in that aspect. cash games and MTT's are soft but getting suckedout on can get to be problematic since 4 to 6 players enter every pot. otherwise fast cashouts and great bonuses are easy to clear. and support is very fast to answer all and any questions you have with no BS.

This is a site that caters to fish. The whole idea of being anonymous is kind of annoying to me. Poker is a game of gathering information. Having a random # instead of a username prevents people from taking notes and gathering information on people. Also you can only play up to 4 tables at once. As someone who 12+ tables, this is absolutely absurd to me. I think that this site focuses on making sure the fish come back, rather than giving grinders and sharks a place to play. You also cant use HUDs here, which is another drawback for sharks. I do like their software and some of their tournaments. But I would never grind here for the reasons I mentioned above.

I play on Bovada just because there is no other options for me in the USA since I am not going to play on Merge anymore. What I like about this pokerroom is a pretty small field - you don't have to beat 75000 players to win something like on pokerstars. Maybe prizes structure could have been better but I am pretty satisfied with it.

I have been playing at bovada for 4 years now. I will say I did take a break when it switched from Bodog to Bovada but mostly because I was having software issues. They ended up sending me a we miss you bonus, and I cleared it and made a few bucks. I am not back to playing there regularly and love it. It did take a little getting used to the anonymous thing, but it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

To follow up with what some of the others are saying, the anonymity is ridiculous. While someone once told me that it helps you practice how to play against unknowns at a random tournament, I felt completely underwhelmed by that aspect of it. As a result, it's just one of a couple of sites I play on, but only when I see some sort of value in it.

That being said, the play is really, really bad. I can sit back in the $2 and up to $10 tournaments and wait for the nuts and get paid off a lot. I have a pretty decent track record there as a result.

Can bovada provide a real bonus, that does not require some * next to it. If so, then ok. But I doubt it. Only two freerolls a day, that will be a very huge pool of scavengers. Try and up this a bit and I may go here and deposit money.
Really, they need to provide more for their guests, and they know it. Appealing to casual players, well that just means they want the people who do not want or expect any treatments that which they otherwise should deserve.

Bovada is aimed at people unaware of better options. They offer the highest rake in the industry and the worst rewards. Their client is buggy and lacks basic features but worst of all, they don't offer real poker. Everything is anonymous and you aren't even allowed to take YOUR OWN PERMANENT NOTES. In poker, you're able to remember your opponents and adjust. You don't play someone for hours on end only to be clueless the next day. I don't think poker rooms have the policy of inducing brain damage after each session. Bovada's goal is to remove targeting of weaker players and a large part of a winning player's skill edge. If you want to play on a site where there are no big winners and perhaps no serious long-term winners at all, try Bovada. I like to focus my efforts on sites that respect the game and where I have potential to grow into a consistent winner myself. A big question I ask before joining a site is, "Are there professional players willing to play on this site and how much are they winning?" Bovada offers no transparency so that information is unavailable but knowing several professional players, I can tell you that most of them moved sites and failed to win anything significant on Bovada. It's also hard to trust a site which anonymizes and hides everything because collusion, superusers or even a faulty Random Number Generator can no longer be detected by the community. It's not just distorting the nature of poker, it's a huge security issue. Bovada's answer is "trust us," as if poker companies have always been angels that can be taken absolutely on faith. Bovada can barely make a functional poker client and they've had security issues in the past. It's unrealistic and dangerous to give up all control, transparency and security to one entity. The Ultimate Bet superuser scandal proved that much but the community was able to figure it out and restore justice. Bovada offers no upside to other poker rooms and plenty of downsides.
