Daniel Negreanu has tweeted an interesting idea about time limit for decisions. I think it would be really great if they will make it happen. Especially in the tournaments when you have about 20 BB and some crazy people make Hollywood and think for 10 minutes. What is your opinion?

I agree with you and Daniel Negreanu. I think that it is unfair for players that pay that much money to get into a tournament have to sit and wait for people for a long time.

I agree that there should be something done about it. What amount of time do you think would be fair? I would think a max of two minutes would be enough. But what do I know, I have only played three live tournaments.

As much time as you get online to think about it maybe doube that time we all make desicions online in that time why not live too

This is really something that should be taken into consideration. Most of the time when a player is "in the tank" he is not pondering a tough decision. Rather, he is hoping his opponent will give away a clue. I think it gets abused and there should be a limit, I'm thinking 3 minutes is plenty of time

Definitely a couple of minutes would reasonable. I just finished watching Season 3 of High Stakes Poker, and one of the hands took over 10 minutes. Just crazy! If online players have to play with a time limit, I think that 2-3 minutes would be more than reasonable for a live game.

More important than the time involved, I think it should be automatic. Asking for the clock can be a tell. So if you are waiting you're stuck with however long they want and possibly giving away information.

I also think it depends on the situation. If it's an important hand, with all of your chips at risk, you should get longer.

Yup , very nice idea !! it's unfair to wait for same people EVERY single hand to play !! something should be done about this !

Well, my opinion is the same as Daniels. We need poker clocks because of the crazies that haul out the time for 1o mins.

It would be in the house's best interest to put a time limit on hands. Delays in the games cost the casino's money as they have to pay the dealers and managers to stay overtime. That's why I think Daniel's idea will fly and you'll start seeing it happen. I'm all for a clock myself, who wants to sit there after a big bluff and have somebody staring you down for 10 minutes.

I couldn't agree more and especially in league play here. There are a "select" few that let their time run out on purpose and use every bit of the time bank every time it fills back up. Where the curtousy or necessity to do this comes from I may never kno. Some are legit in the fact they play multiple games which personally if your going to do so then limit the number you play at once, or manage your time better so it's more respectful to others.

Ultimately 10 minutes is way too long and is only hurting the game. Who actually enjoys when someone runs the clock all the way down on purpose when the whole time they knew the action they were going to take?

For those wondering, Daniel tweeted the following:
ya I think 20 secs preflop, 30 seconds on flop, 45 on turn, and 60 on river. Give every player 3 extension buttons each day.
I really like the idea about having three extension buttons for decisions. I've seen it myself and it infuriates me when certain players need several minutes per hand.

Sounds like a good idea. I've never played live but from what I've seen tv some of these guys take ages to make their play. Most of the time it's probably just some hollywood and trying to catch a tell off of the other's.

Actually the thing about is - everybody thinks of themselves as a professional and since they've seen that on TV, they think they can tell other players 'Look, I am thinking for 10 minutes, you are not gonna bluff me' or whatever. And I don't really care about the time-limit in cash games, but it really hurts when you are playing tournaments.

My thing is while they are waiting this long, there are other players winning and getting ahead. In online play it can be bad too, but thankfully not 10 minutes bad.

Daniel is in my opinion is a very over rated poker player

It is high time to introduce a time limit for the course of the player and then look at this new trend where some players think of the obvious moves to 15 minutes is a mockery

I think Daniel's idea is a great one, although I haven't experienced people taking a long time live, just online.

I have had it happen in live and online so I agree they should make a 3 minute rule for each player who takes too long.

I dont players stalling, patience is key i guess sometime they don take extra ling time 5 minutes would be to long 1-3 minutes should be a rule or enough time to call a clock on someone.

The clock is there for players to use as they wish. Everyon has a different use for their clock, some use it to hit the cash!!! And most online games dont give u more then one minute. So i dont see what the problem is. If u in a rush, u shouldnt be playing!

Always funny these players that only play 3% of their hands still they take like 1 minute for every decision preflop.
Really hope there will be some nice changes regarding timebank abuse.

I enjoy seeing a plethora of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's when playing a small stakes sng or steps ---- it amuses me to no end that some get so upset over 30 seconds --- btw that is a TELL folks and if you observe you will notice they usually don't last long at the table because they are already on tilt or so full of themselves they are ez pickens'

However --- I agree about live tourneys --- I've only played in a few but it seems to me that 2-3 minutes is plenty of time to make reads and a decision about any hand and if you have a mythical time button left at your disposal -- use it

Live play...I think a timer should be activated when requested by ANY player at a table...three minutes should be more than enuff time to reflect on past play and to do any math involved in the current hand.
On line play...the timer treats everyone the same. While I prefer fast play, I do understand peeps utilizing the clock to make the money. But what I really find annoying is when the trny has gone into 'hand to hand' mode and waits for each table to finish, there are still those that stall.
I suppose it kind of makes sense if they are stalling to increase the blinds and force a player all in on the blinds.

It's a simple and reasonable idea.
