I ran into a friend that offered me to come and play a game with them its $20 buyins winners take all and between 15 to 20 players. at first i was like naaa then i started counting heads hmmm 300 to 400 bucks would pay my rent lol. then the fact i want to shut them up because they always downing the online player. like it must be easy pressing buttons or some other bs. if i do go in going to roll heads and represent us online players show them they no different from the rest of us players online or live

Good luck. You will probaly do very well in this tournament because most of the time you are playing a lot harder competition online then live. Represent the online community well by winning this tournament.

Online poker proved to be good training for me. The very first time I EVER played at a live table was a few weeks ago. I got into a $1500 guaranteed tourney. I didn't know how I was going to fair at a real poker table. I was worried that I wouldn't have a good poker face but as it turned out I have a GREAT poker face. Finished 1st place!! Won $450 out of my $40 investment. It was $20 to register and I opted for a $20 add-on. I don't think I would have pulled through if I hadn't gotten the add-on.

I'll say my piece about this and take it for what it's worth to you.
I play a lot better live(more reads) then I do online so Advantage you.
Hand strength=online players know odds where they are at on the flop Advantage you.
You probably play x30-40 hands per week than they do Advantage you.
They could be a bunch of drunken donkeys after an hour BIG DISADVANTAGE!
Betting aggresively HUGE ADVANTAGE you.

Watch out for "too dumb to fold" preflop and steal like your in the 'Italian job' with position
Watch for cheating and pay attention to what people SAY they bet and how many chips they actually bet with!(biggest home game slip and hustle)
GL!!! Careful though I really don't say a word to the people I play live about how many hands per week I play online. It hardly is even brought up whether or not I play for half a paycheck when I sit down live on the virtual felt (I'm still building an online roll and fighting the micro donkeys). I guess what I'm saying is "careful not to grab a tiger by the tail until you know you have a clean shot at it's head!" I don't think either live or online should be discounted or feared by which is a better group in the end it's whether or not your better and hitting the piss out of cards to take down 20:1 odds

Good luck Grumpy, I'm sure you'll represent us well. I have always thought about whether or not I'd do well in a live setting considering I'm still not old enough to play poker in casinos in most states lol

Good luck Grinder. Home games are always a lot more fun than online games. Online poker is great practice for live poker because you can play a more disciplined game. I find you get a lot more callers, at least in the games I play.

I have never really been a fan of winner take all tournaments, but whatever floats your (full)boat LOL. Well if you do decide to play, I wish you the best of luck, and "go get em'"

This topic is under "live tournament" so im assuming its at someones house?

One thing I would worry about is the fact that you said it would "pay the rent". Now I obviously dont know if thats just lighthearted banter... but if you need to win this to pay your rent, I would suggest not playing.

People do not play their best poker under duress, and that could def add a ton of stress to your game!

Best of luck,

Ive gone an played with some friends, and friends of theirs , and done quite well, it funny how cocky people can be , despite never seeing you play,. With me being an ex dealer, players always welcome me, think i will be the fish, because lets face it there alot of fish dealers, but, truth be told there are also alot of ex dealers who can really play.

I play at a friend's house and it pays top 3, between 8 and 10 players usually enter.
Some good eats(pot luck) and some wine drinking occur. I bring vodka. Usually do not money.
Hope you have a good result.
