Just discovered that a local tavern has WTP poker twice a week. Free & you play for points. Point leaders play in bigger tourneys later. Seems like fun just to get out & play some cards, but no high expectations on my part. Anybody have any experience with this league?

That sounds really cool. Im sure there will be a lot of loose shoving early in those but it will be fun for you to make a FT or even win live.

We have something like that here on thurs. nites. It's a good excuse to go out and drink some booze while playing poker but it's a huge donk fest. The one I play in not only awards points but small cash prize for 1-5. I've managed to cash three times, won the whole thing once which equated to free beer.

Indeed, if the players aren't drinking up way more than the prize pool, they are doing it wrong

I'd probably be interested in some kind of local league in my area. I may have to check out WTP's facebook page/google local leagues in NJ. Hey if it's free why not if it fits my schedule lolz.

They have a web page. Seems to be national. So far I've played 2 nights & had a ball--friendly folks & cold beer.

This place is more restaurant than bar--very friendly place. But yep, I know what you mean, I'm not into the regular bar scene either.

Good Luck in those Dr. Moriarty. Miller Lite used to run a series that I think may have been tied in with WSOP years ago here in NC. Points earned to a freeroll wsopc event or something like that.

I think one of the old table tops is out in the barn -- just may have to dig it out and invite a few folks over
for some shuffle up.

Oh well something to do, especially with winter approaching. Plus, I do like the Miller Lite with chicken wings

Like someone has already mentioned, Carbon used to have a $100 freeroll every Sunday. It ran for at least a year straight
. But sadly, it is gone... Someone else from this forum had mentioned that they play in this WPT league at a bar in their town. Unfortunately, I can't remember what player it is that said this.
I looked on their website to see if they/or anyone hosted a game in my town or near me, and found that there was no game hosted within 200 miles of me....SIGH
Maybe one day someone will start to run a sponsored game like that at a bar or restaurant near me sometime in the near future... Rather sooner than later..

Yes i remember this as i sometimes played the World Tavern freerolls at same time as the Poker.org games on Carbon, i even managed to win it 1 time and with the donkfests they where it was pretty mad, it used to attract about 600 players and more and it ran on Carbon right up until the last series and then seemed to vanish after Carbon dropped prizepools in certain games and cut alot of private games so maybe that was why it went also, not quite sure.
