Full Tilt Poker : Laurent Tapie sheds light on the goings on behind the scenes

Laurent Tapie has confirmed the statements made by his lawyer Ben Dayanim on Thursday; that the refusal of some of the ex-Full Tilt professionals to repay the money they owe to the group could block the takeover agreement should it remain unresolved. This is because Groupe Bernard Tapie is not ready to take on the extra costs (US$16,5m) generated by these players’ debts. However, he also explained that some of the players have responded to Groupe Bernard Tapie’s (GBT) calls for dialogue and have already signed contracts to repay the debts. He also hopes that those who have not responded to GBT’s calls will do so soon. However, he did not say which players had been cooperative or not.
iGamingFrance has translated his comments from French to English and published them below (as close to word for word as is possible).
‘As written in PokerStrategy, the argument of the players who say ‘we will refund if the money goes to the players’ is misleading, since they know very well that the players will be refunded ONLY if GBT goes all the way with the takeover, and for that to happen it is necessary that the bulk of money owed by the pros returns to Full Tilt.
Otherwise GBT will have to make up the shortfall, generating an additional cost to the overall operation that GBT is not willing to take on, especially as the financial position of Full Tilt, as it appears following the audit, is actually worse than expected.
Therefore the claim that this may block the deal unfortunately is true.
But GBT will not stop there.
We will study closely the exact account histories of the 19 pro players who have never repaid their debts owed to the other Full Tilt players, which amount to US$16,5m exactly.
The poker community, and particularly that made up of former Full Tilt players waiting to recover their funds, deserves to know the reality of the behaviour of some major poker figures who say they are ‘sorry for the situation of Full Tilt players and want to do everything they can to help them get their funds back », blaming the old management, but also refrain from saying how much they have borrowed from Full Tilt, and lost, playing on the site.
However these losses represent some of the funds owed to the players who are waiting to be reimbursed.
When you are a poker player, a great player at that, recognised and admired, the basic rule, it seems to me, is to honour your gambling debts.
Fortunately, among the 19 players we have attempted to contact, some have immediately called back and worked with us on a repayment plan to clear their debts, and we are already finalising contracts to that effect.
We now hope that those who have not contacted us will do so quickly, to find the same type of solutions, so that the situation does not remain as it is.’

Hopefully this problem will be solved, or delayed too long already these things, and those who need to recover their money to be paid

I really do hope that they come up with a solution to this. I really enjoyed playing poker on full tilt and I still miss it.

Wonder if the room will launch before 1 year since Black Friday...... my guess is not. I've already written off the few hundred $ I had on there...... doubt it's worth it to me to deal with the DOJ.

To be or not to be????
FullTilt is dead.
1. Tapie has just enough money to pull the revival of the FTP
2. GBT has not even tried to compensate for the diversion of personnel from the company
3. FTP transaction is pretty long

FullTilt will live.
1. Tapie told inverstors GBT, that they intend to restart the FTP about March 1
2. Emerged from the coma room will also be called FullTiltPoker (without any re-branding), and even retain some of his former professionals, but not as a shareholder, but only at the time of formation of a new team
3. Tapie hatching ambitious plans to unify them based FullTilt with ISPT

It really is a shame all this legal issue involving FTP, I enjoyed playing there and would love her to return to work, not just for my money I have there, it is unlikely, but because I really felt good about playing at Full Tilt I hope .... that the best way to solve

I am hoping to get fultilt back, I know it will take away from the other sites, seems like I hear a new one everyday but none like tilt is the problem, maybe someone should come up with another site like tilt since so many really liked it.

I for one only want the $$$ they owe me thats it, if they manage to reopen the site I wish them the best but I will not be sitting at their tables... The Fulltilt brand is worth about as much as Enron.

Even if it opens again, I think that reliance on FullTilt, will be on the floor

You're optimistic if you think back to FTP. I told them a penny does not trust ... Do you think they will soon be opened? LOL ... How long has fed all the promises? We are all flawed, even the AP and UB money back parts (they have only the lazy or the people of USA), and the monster just FTP all in all stolen. I did not give them a loan at interest or in the bank would put! Gusoku shit, not the website!

I have written off the money I won on FTP.A great concept was destroyed by scumbags.Having generated bankrolls on Lovin an Lock I'm now resigned to losing them.Carbon is my only "live" bankroll and the last hope for me.I think that poker is a tax issue similar to Megaupload ( where I have business backup files )If they can't tax it the American government want to close it.Then generate confining regulations where they can get their "pound of flesh.Internet freedom is slowly dying.
