Men and Omaha

I love Omaha and Omaha hi/lo poker. I played it way before I played Texas Holdem. I have introduced the game to many men over the years and at first they do not like it at all.
First they try to play it like Holdem. (no can do). Then they do not like the aspect of sharing in hi/lo.
Lastly they do not like the idea of 9 card poker.
I find that women have a lot more patience for the game. They stick with it long enough to learn how to play it properly.
Having said this though I have seen the game grow in popularity over the years.
So let me know your thoughts on men vs women in Omaha.

Well, being in Omaha the men and women seem to be getting along fine. in fact im seeing a lot of fraternizing with the "enemy" so to speak....lol

You may be entierly correct, without that instant gratification, from sweet pockets in hold em, most dudes dont want to bother, Its a whole lot more thinking and i would say some just dont think its worth the effort.

Im new to Omaha but it seems like it is very easy to win money on because so many players try to play it as if it were texas hold em. It is also very fun to play.

Omaha hi lo as been my fav game for years i also like playing plo, unfortunately most private games are nlh,nlh ,nlh ,nlh ,nlh or freaking nlh, quite frustrating really, infact carbon as very few plo8 tourneys, but 100s of holdem,
looking forward to fultilt and the late plo8 26 buck game, just hope its still going be there.
as for men not liking having to think more .ive played against both sexes, those who can play it, be it a man or woman, do tend to enjoy the thinking process, were as the ones,be it man or woman who think they can play it, dont think, they see bare AA ,KK,QQ and play it like its holdem and wonder why they are on the rail in an instant less they get lucky.
example earlier today i played plo i called a small raise i was bb they were sb i had AhKdJhJd
flop came 10h9h7d he/she bet i raised with the nut flush draw.he/she called turn was 4h he raised i pushed all in he/she called ,,i was bemused with theie cards ,,,QsQd6s3c im not even going guess what he/she thought i had,i just knew he/she was an holdem player who didnt really have a clue.

My favorite kinds of starting hands are hands like 6789 (suited really doesn't matter here, if a flush flops you have the low end of it and will probably get beaten unless you hit a straight flush). Hands like this give you a lot of straight possibilities, 34567, 45678, 56789, 678910, and 8910JQ. Also hands like AAKK, or QQKK, double pairs on the start are ok, even better if they are suited.
Most players max raise pre-flop when they are dealt AA in their hand, no matter what they have with it. I am against this play maybe a little raise to push the garbage hands out of the pot, but max raise- no. Max raising aces is another example of "Hold em play in Omaha" and doesn't do much good unless you flop an ace to go with it. It is ok to max raise the AA if you are holding something like AAk10 and one of your aces is suited with one of your other cards, or even double suited.

I do not think that has to do with that woman or man. I so far have generally believed that women fleeing omaha, because it is slightly more complicated and pokeru male gender is a game to soon understand it better. or you learn faster. If he knows holdem is easier with other styles. I'm not just playing Holdem and Omaha, but I had no strong desire to learn other types. I read every basics, I tried to play some tournaments free, but not enough to gain the necessary experience to play at a table for 2

When I started playing omaha it made my head hurt, but after getting use to it I rather like it, most men I know really like it they find it a real money maker, not sure about the fratinizing part thats too funny.

Between the two l'd have to say omaha hi/lo. Just seem to get my butt kicked all over the place in omaha, but after reading some of these post maybe my mistake has been that i have been trying to play it like holdem. hmmm good point.

As far as men liking or not like more or less than women i have no clue.

Fratinizing way to funny elwood

I definitely don't like hi/lo and I agree patience is a great quality to have especially in Omaha.

I don't play it by choice. But, I do okay when it is in mixed games such as Horse and such. It is one brutal game. I consider myself an average player at Omaha and know most forms of different poker games. Later Y'all
