New Game...'Black and Spades'

This is another game we play at my home game. It's called "Best and Spades".

Everybody antes up. It is just 7 card stud, but in order to win you need to have the best 5 card hand AND the highest spade underneath (out of the 3 cards that are dealt face down). If nobody has both, the pot stays in the middle, and you ante up and do it again.

Also, another rule is that if you decide to fold at any point, you will not get dealt in another hand, and ultimately be out of the game. Therefore, basicallly nobody folds.

Obviously that takes strsategy out of the game, but it is still fun. When we have cards night with my family and my family's friends, we always end the night with this game. It's always exciting/fun, and the pot normally gets pretty big as the game lasts 5+ hands

Not sure if this game is still popular but on some sites when I was playing only play money (early on), There was All in or Fold. Those were the only two options. I rarely if ever played at those tables. It was not a game where I could better my skills or learn anything. Later on when I played real money games I found some players still play that way by choice HAHAHAHA.

Hahahaha

Yeah I realize this isn't a skill game, as it turns into everybody being calling machines so they get re-dealt in if there is another hand. But it is a fun way to end a poker night with family.

I should also say...I guess I have two separate home poker games. One with friends, where we basically play a SnG Hold'em tourney, and another with family and their friends, where we play a bunch of poker variants

I'm not so sure all-in or fold is devoid of all skill, after-all you do have to make a decision each hand and such matters as position and play reads come into effect. Whoops, looks like this this thread got hijacked. Best and Spades reminds me of some of the games I played years ago.. a High Chicago variation.

Haha that is fine qjwalk, I actually agree with you. Those All-In or Fold games do take a decent amount of skill, playing with position is huge...obviously less skill than actually poker, because in NL holdem you have to worry about bet sizing etc. I wonder if anybody grinded the all in or folds if they could profit lol.

@benspocket ooo thats interesting as well. I have also seen it played that you win 1/2 the pot if you have the best hand but not the best spde underneath, and then you continue to play until someone has both and then you win 100% of the pot

My brother has a game at his house once a week poor mans stakes with guys, they got me to play one nite needed a player its $25, and its dealers choice, they play some of the craziest games, when it was my turn to deal I just played 7 card stud nothing wild, which is my favorite , I learned a lot of new ones, they buy cards at the end, high spade low spade, queens and followers and some I cant remember the names of, nothing I ever heard of before was fun but way too much thinking I came out alright, they wanted me to come back but thankfully they have had enough to play.

Yeah that's where I learned this game, with a "dealer's choice" game. A lot of crazy games you find lol...

Well I have to say there is more thought in the all in or fold games then the Kamikaze. I myself would never play either of them for money because it puts too much to chance as I see it.

This Black and Spades game looks like something i could loose a bundle on though
