Going to Alaska on Vacation

I can't believe it. I'm FINALLY getting to Alaska, after wanting to go for over 30 years. My daughter is going to go work at a Lodge in Talkeetna this summer and my sister and I are going to go visit in June. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we HAVE to see in that area? We are planning on renting a car so we have the freedom of driving wherever we can within 6 days. The more I look at websites and brochures, the more I want to do. Heck, wait a minute, I played the Mega Millions last night. Maybe I won and can stay there for the whole summer and do everything there is to do!!! :) While I keep dreaming, I'd love to hear any and all suggestions. Thanks.

I'd work on the Moose and Squirrel bit in case you drive to far Northwest and get lost. Probably barter rum for vodka though, not all would be in vain. Have a good time, drive safe and who you kidding any way, first thing you did was check the Mega Millions this morning!

Thanks Randy. I'm sure we'll have a great time. And yes, in the summer there, it stays light all day and alot of the night. I hope the cabin has black out blinds or I could be seriously sleep deprived by the time I get home.

Yup, in just less than 12 weeks, we will be wandering around the wilderness of Alaska. Can't wait. I wonder though, are there any casnos there? LOL We might end up playing some poker with the eskimos or inuits. :) I need to get a casino chip to add to my collection if so. :) When I decided I wanted to visit all 50 states, I never really thought about gambling in all 50 too. LOL

Casiniocrazys your going to have a great time Alaska is a beautiful state and the last of what mankind hasn't destroyed with refineries and all that crap. My wife was born in Kodiak Island and although I never been there her cousin sends us simply awesome pictures. My wife got to go back there quite a few years ago to take her Aunt there and I had to stay home and babysit the boys whoopy. It's the last of the great frontier I put 2 pictures in here of Talkeetna to give folks an idea of where your are heading. Have a safe and wonderful trip. Pots

Hey Y2 you wanted some pictures so I posted a couple looks like a very nice Alaskan town to me. I would go to Kodiak Island first since my wife was born there then I go to anyother Alaskan town and this place looks a good start. Casino bears only come around when there's food on the most part so I don't know what folks up there do with their trash or where they dump it i doubt if a trash truck will be stopping by your cabin lol. Pots

Grocery store and liquor store is the important places? Too funny. I foreseen seeing a lot of wildlife, including eagle, moose, black bear, grizzly bears, and if we do the rafting trip, through in some salmon, etc. I simple can not wait! Will borrow a camera if I have to, in order to get some good pictures. Just over 10 weeks away. Yippee.
