Most of the younger people don't realize how lucky they are.... We have the NFL football draft,, we have the NBA draft,,, When I was growing up the "Draft" meant you were probably going to wind up in the jungle...So be grateful to the people serving this country so you don't have to. Myself I'm ex U.S. Navy 1963-1966. Tkae care

It never ceases to amaze me how a difference in eras influences mindsets

In 1972 when I became draft eligible there was a draft lottery to see who went to basic and then off straight to 'nam

my # came up in high 300's --- a HS friends # was 18 -- his age --- he never came home --

Had a friend whos brother in law was in Nam,one of the lucky ones that came home,brought his helmet,belt etc. for us as kids to see.I have the utmost respect for the guys and gals who went to war,Americans and Canadians,you are the bravest people I know and should be considered heros...you all are in my book...continued success in your lives my friends!

Well i volinteer for draft when i was 17, in 1961, was making i think $69 a month that was a lot back then today they make more a month then i did before i got disable oh well, got out early becouse of medical reasons so i got a honerable discharge under medical conditions, now todays generation i dont know becouse i have a greandson that isn`t a worker like a lot in his age group
oh well the generation today isn`t like the generation i grew up in thats for sure
