Sure everyone can use a lil help now and again wit poker as well as everyday things in life. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions on good poker books they would recommend to read. There are tons out there and I would like the opinion of some good players (this forum ;P) so I thought I would ask for your input. Good luck on and off those felts and thanks! *hugs*

My personal favorite is "Ace on the River" by Greenspan, but reading any and all of them can only give you an insight into their game. You can and should take parts of their strategy and tactics, and fit them into your game. Remember that you have to play your game and adjust tactics up from there.

Any decent poker book doesn't suggest to follow a strategy that is simliar to that of the author. Instead they are typically laid out in a manner to help the reader develop their own thinking processes.

Ami, as far as 'which books to read'... 'it depends'. It depends on what format & where you're currently at with your own game (& perhaps what you've read in the past if anything).
A great starting point (& good for many intermediate players too) is "The Little Green Book" by Phil Gordon. Phil has a great writing style > clear & concise (easy read).

From there if you're playing NLHE Tournaments I'd strongly suggest reading "Harrington On Holdem Vol.1 & 2" (tournament play) for a good base in which to work from.
If you're branching out to SNG's, then you'll want to read Collin Moshman's SNG Strategy (or Phil Shaw's SNG book).
"Kill Everyone" (Elky edition if possible) is a great read for intermediate+ tournament players & for more advanced > "Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time vol.1 & 2" is the best couple books out there by far!! I've easily read over 50 poker books (& have watched well over 300-400 training vids. with memberships on sites like PokerX Factor, DragTheBar, GrinderSchool, PokerSavvy & others) & would suggest that those two books are the best Tournament books ever written ainc.

This is the best advice you will find. There is one more book the author of this post didn't mention because of modesty, it is one he is currently working on (it has been written for many years actually). He will tell you he doesn't have time, it has been written before and probably a few more excuses.

Part Two (To Long Of A Reply)

Sure the astute forum followers here have already taken notice of his post, willingness to share his time and the detail answer to the question ask. There is no single person who has helped my poker game than this gentleman here. I had the pleasure of being very active on a forum with him several years ago, was able to play a small tournament twice a week and I watched his table every chance I got.

This book I refer too is one that he writes daily on forums, he gives better advice than most poker coaches and could most likely make a very good living at it. I was extremely honored when he join this forum and posted on my guestbook to join OFBT. If you haven't read his work, I do say work because a post does it such an injustice, please do so. His passion for the game is exceeded by his willingness share. This is what poker forums should be all about.

I have been here for for a year, played part of the Spring session and have been an active member until a month ago. I have seen two defining moves here at Poker.org. One was RK as moderator and the first post by PokerDoofus. Don't judge a book by its cover or a poker player by there ID.
