So disappointed in Daniel Negraneu

He was one of my favorite players until I just saw an interview where he called Annie Duke, another favorite, a c*** JUST because she disagrees with ladies-only tournaments because she doesn't think the distinction between male and female players is a good thing. Yet, she refers to herself as the best female player, thereby creating a distinction.

I understand why she does it. Removing the distinction between male and female players will be an accomplishment made over time, likely a long time, and in the meantime she needs to market herself and you use what you've got. Besides, she really only disagreed with gender-specific tournaments, not acknowledging that you're the best within a certain group.

Daniel's comment was not only extremely strong, it was uncalled for, not appropriate for the "gentlemanly" nature of poker, and just plain white trash.

I think Negreanu lost a lot of fans with that comment, regardless of what their stance is on female/male poker player distinctions.

It is nonetheless a rather interesting discussion; should female poker players compete in separate tournaments, and if not, can anyone then brand themselves as the best female poker player in the world as Duke and others sometime do?

Maybe some of your fellow female poker fans can join in, I'd really like to hear what some of the ladies think about this!

I think Annie Duke is just outspoken, won't be condescended to, and has personality. I follow her fairly closely and I haven't seen anything that "I" would classify as bitchy. She speaks her mind, but no worse than many of the guys.

I think there should be ladies only tournaments. At first I disagreed, but I've changed my mind. It will help grow the game and so many women would never play if they first had to sit at a table full of men. I'm new to the game (2 years) and only play online, but recently went to a casino. The tournament table was full of men, but I didn't even think about it and sat down. It was not a good experience. Several of them were condescending, snide, and even rude. That is, until I busted out 3 of them. So it could be said that one just has to earn their respect, but it shouldn't be that way. I welcome anyone to the table. (I want their chips!)

I haven't watched Kathy Liebert play, but Obrestad is good, however, she gets noticeably nervous at the table. Let's not forget Jennifer Harman, she's won an awful lot of money playing poker.
