Tells playing online: true or false? your opinion?

I have heard from players many of times that there are no tells from other players or opponents in online/net poker? I strongly have to disagree. I feel that I can get very good reads off of the timing of bets and the bet amounts.. overbetting is a very popular trend online I have noticed and i absolutely love that ! I also see alot of scared betting and or trying to see the next card for cheap.... Check raises: I will bet small to see this if I feel you are in position to do so lol simply so I can fold....Thanks please add all of your opinions I would love to hear them.

I agree with you and for all the reasons above. If the hand doesn't demand a play and enough chips, waiting a few rounds ,might give anyone an idea on how, who will play what.

Anyone that has played online now's there are tells, now not all players have tells,I found that playing a min of two games at once reduces my timing tells, now some times you need to send a "tell" to trick ur enemy, meaning, once you understand "tells",then you can minipulate ur own tells into fooling ur enemy, thats what poker is truly about, making ur enemy feel like they got you, then you poof b gone them.sometimes I say screwit,NO RISK,NOREWARD

There are definitely tells, timing and bet sizing, especially combined, can give the observant player clues.

Absolutely. For starters it is pretty easy to find the super-aggressive and the relatively passive people. Bet sizing is very similar to how it is played live, and the timing of people betting is very important as well

I have found that very often a players screen name at a poker site matches his style of play or tells something about that individual.

You only have a time element to pick up on. If they scratch there ass of sneeze there goes your tell. There is a difference from a tell and history. Having history on a player is the best way to get information, lot hands played where you can see hole cards, betting patterns or playing out of postion, those to me are not tells. Other than that, I'm not putting anything into a on-line tell. If you're getting other advice, then let them tell you another one.

I have found that I can get a good feel on how aggressive a person is by playing a few hands and seeing how much they bet with the pot out there. I can also tell when a player is new by look at what the size of the bet is according to the pot. I like when someone gets so jumpy they raise the pot way to much which scares people away. They could be bluffing but most cases you can tell.

'quick call' (on wet board) is often a draw.. weeeeee, LOL

Like whats already been said by a few.overly quick or overly slow can be tells.also checking the river, when they have been leading out with a bet previously.or leading out with a strong bet after the river , when they have been first to act, yet prior to this have been insta calling any bet.just my 2 cents.

Poker is all about tells, let me explain that:
in poker your are one of two kind of player, either a thinker of not thinker.not thinker players are those just read the board and see what they have holding and call or play them in diffrent kind of positions.
thinker players are the kind of players that try to read what range of hand the oponent could have and reading their hand as well as reading board and try to make sence of play.in this kind of play u maybe a higher thinker and think what the other player may think of u have and trick them.
i just love the no limit poker it is battle of mind and math.
therefor if u have no tell or read on your oponent u playing blind poker and i should mention that in this matter there is no diffrence in live and online poker.
the most tells in online poker is hand range and style of player and betting and position structure of the hand, but for reading good tells u should have good imagination and play alot poker and see diffrent kind of players and play in any situation

My style of play aggressive. Aggressive style increases the bank and if your hand has improved, then you can count on the bigger prize.

Raises, with a strong poker hand, can enter rival misleading. They may begin to think that you have nothing and it's just a bluff. This, in the end, will also increase your winnings.

Yes there are many tells i believe....alot to do with betting stles...and also ur betting paterns...some players let their time drop and then act instead of the initial reaction either folding better or raising....w.e it maybe there is a tell on everything...people dont even notice they are doing it and this is why it makes it easier to expose the weak play.

By observing all the hands that are played not just the ones you play you quite easily pick up on players, specially if you sit at the table with them for a long time, once I pick up on someones game I make a note of them and how they like to play, that way when ever I meet them again I have an idea on how to react to their style. Its not a lot different to playing live apart from the looks and expressions you may find.

I try wathing whats going on the hole table for a start .then im watching how hand plays out
THEN i start to watch whos in hand and the winner who won it how they did it and the betting.then u start to take notes on people .BUT all this takes work and time to fig out and play your own game good thing u can make notes on line. VILLIANS 187 NINER

There is a cadence to the online game a rhythm of sort---you can tell when it changes ----something is up when it does watch and see a bluff a pair of bullets. sometimes just listening to the cadence is better than watching-watch when it changes-i know it sounds weird but its true --sometimes a pause is like someone said an ass scratch or rolling a doob or the wife fussing but when the rhythm changes watch what the hands look like and make notes youll see a repeat pattern usually. unless someone just nasty and got the itch and cant keep up

Also have to realize about intenet connections with some people and how many games they are playing at once or what else they are doing on their computer so its hard to tell as far as timing of the bet but there are def tells just have to really watch them in the betting more than anything

Yeah if you pay attention some people definitely have timing and betting tells. Sometimes the timing has to do with other stuff though so that one can be tricky.

If you can't see the individual you're playing against, that only leaves 2 tells: timing and size of bets (relative to other rounds of betting, as well).

I agree with nine iron notes and ranging -thats what i try n do lots of notes and trying to range players when im not in a hand -as far as timing tells those can turn out to be false tells thats where being observant comes in handy along with those notes-and on merge u can personalize the tags u use on ppl

Have u ever read something and said I know this. And then think but now I know to look for it.
Instead of thinking I have a gut feeling. Now I will know how to look for this situation more. Ty your article.#notes are one of the best ways of knowing your opponent. im a mix player like ben hard to no what im going to do.
