The Largest US Poker Site

I found it surprising that the largest US poker network is Revolution Poker. Lock poker left the merge network, took the pros with them, bought out cake pokers software, and is now a bigger site than the entire Merge network it began from. It is interesting to me that Revolution network is actually bigger than Merge. I only play on Merge because I have heard bad things about Lock. I don't think the site has smoothed out all the kinks yet. Do you think Lock poker is big enough to compete with PokerStars if PS is to reenter US market? How many of you play on Lock and what do you think of the site?

Lock was by far the biggest skin on the Merge network, so when they left, Merge shrank considerably.

Btw, PS is never going to reenter the US market in it's current form. If may be able to partner up, or license it's product to, a Nevada casino, but not as a stand alone platform. The legislation so far proposed is intentionally hostile to the current poker sites, and protections for US gaming interests are being written in to them.

Yeah I dont know about the whole Lock being bigger than Merge. A couple things to keep in mind here about the US market. For starters, its the US market so its quite fickle in terms of interest. Back in the day, early 2002-03 when Holdem really started to take shape and gain in popularity you had people going by the tens of thousands to open an account on some network because it was the 'cool' thing to do. Go along for a few years and everyone and their brother literally are trying to play online, many without success obviously.

I really think any new sites and regulation will bring some solid network competition in the states but I dont know that it will be to the same extent as it once was. Keep in mind, most people are losers so you need something that is a solid, staple setting that employs some business model that really can not only draw the losers in and back but also keep them putting more coin into the system.

Personally, I NEVER liked Stars or Tilt, hated them both from day one. And even if I could play there, I would NOT, I would take my money elsewhere.
