I've been looking thru some peoples profiles looking at their skill level. i see some people call themselves masters lol and i see they havent done much here to really justify that . just wondering what being a master would consist of in poker?

I am a master whiner. Does that count? I just looked and I predictably chose "beginner"

I notice mainly tournament players are higher degens than cash game players.. in tournaments people like to flip faster, play faster, and build up hughe egos after winning a couple events..
i think being a master is winning on a constant basis over a large sample size.

I consider myself to be a reasonable player when I'm playing at my best. No where close to being a master, and I very much doubt anyone here is. Why would you be playing freerolls if you were a master?

I am far from a master but I do think I have a advantage over the average player.

Master poker?, big players in the sport believe they are masters, are people born for it I think, be called master must know how to play poker, to know and to learn, luck, and have that feeling which sends you when to bet and when not to. And most important to know how to lose, to watch your opponents to guess their strategies. I have a friend I can not call master,. just a good player. since it maintains in this game, no. has another job

Poker players often tend to over rate themselves...more so than any other competitive field perhaps....
my skill level is listed as ' depends on the day"

if yer a winner...yer a winner...if yer a loser, then yer a loser....money is just a way of keeping score..:)

I just love the game and don't care how good I or other players are I keep bettering my game think that is some of the reason I stay interested long as I keep learning I'll be at the felts.

I sell bait does that count.

seriously let people believe whatever level they feel they are at. it is to a good players advantage to be against someone who thinks they are at the same level but are not. I would rather humble my play than call attention to myself anyways. it is the end results that count. results over time show who is who.

I dont even think of myself as anything . i dont think when i play or my brain thinks on auto pilot i look at no stats think of other things. gut feeling about all i go by so i must be a donk or have esp lol i prefer to listen to what other people think of my game. do they respect me ect thats a good idea for a post.

One must have a very large mustache and be able to raise the left eyebrow nearly into the hair line in order to truely be a poker master!

Really watermellon I think the bigger question is: How much you got? What did you start with and what you got NOW? To hell with what level is who and who plays what game and a certain stake....What's you roll? That to me is THE answer. Maybe somebody was the best for years fell into a bottle and couldn't get out. Maybe some kid is signing into a site for the first time tonight on his/her 18th. b day. I know my brick and morter roll could be bigger and this 'freeroll in' thing I've got stuck in my head is a pain in the ass with all of the variance.

Maybe a good start would be to fold KJo in early levels to an MP raise & caller. KJo is a hand that has HUGE reverse implied odds. Super easy fold pre! (that's your tip of the day!)

Well, if they are "masters" as they claim to be, they are wasting their skills by playing all those freerolls IMO.

This is such a great subject. i would think we as in all of us would always be learning new stuff. masters, what egos. maybe pros that have won several tourneys or paid for there home with poker winnings. i know i put itermediate and that was being generous. i will always be a student player because i think there is sooooooo muchhhhhhh to learn. such a wide veriety of POKER> good luck to the masters!!!

On the one hand, pure skill with no luck - it's a boring day spent at the mass of typical situations and hands. Successful same days, to everyone's unfortunately short-lived, and without skill you in a couple of hours to mourn his bankroll
