Is there a correct way?

Is there a certain strategy or way to play when surrounded by donks in a tourney or even a sng for that matter? It's apparent they are consistently out there and ultimately unavoidable. I'm sure they can be outplayed which I have done to lots, but wut frustrates me is when they stay in a hand they have no business or odds to be in yet constantly get rewarded.

Fold a lot and lay low til they are out of the game.

So frustrating, yes, but as Judy says, relax, go with premium hands, and USUALLY they will be gone before too long. Good Luck you too. See you this weekend.

THIS IS A GREAT QUESTION AND I AS WELL HOPE YOU GET ADVISE FOR IT CAUSE I HAVE COME ACROSS THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK SOME PEOPLE DO DONK MOVES ON PURPOSE TO PISS PEOPLE OFF. SURE TESTS ONES PATIENTS. MAYBE WAITING THEM OUT IS THE BEST WAY, THEY NEVER GO FAR.

Patience and playing only premium hands, both are good advise here.

Patience has become my best friend and especially this session wit the playing field being significantly larger than at least the most recent series of games. I don't have a problem folding or being patient or being more aggressive if I kno I am better than they are occasionally. Wut really gets me is when they play so poorly yet get rewarded almost every time. I find it annoying that stupidity gets rewarded so often as it's not a good character quality to have. In the end tho I appreciate the comments and advice and wish all of you the best of luck in the rest of the series. If all else fails we can rally against the donks somehow lol ;)

*hugs*

I usally always try to 3 bet to see where they stand / if u find ur self with some1 who just calls anything and every thing then i dont bet until i got the best hand and then let them do all the calling they want just set em up and knock em down just like bowling pins

As some have say Patience is the best advice... when you identify just play tight and when you have a good hand, be careful... they will fall in the trap... they will always be in the hand... and you will take them.
Sometimes others get on tilt and try to beat them with any hand... what makes them get bigger stacks and feel stronger... just wait till they are gone or till you can trap them

I always mark them so i know who and what they are and when i get good i try testing them see how they respond.a lot time they still beat u when u start with the best u get beat.IM not sure what the real answer is push and pray.even some of good players are doing a bit of donkying .put your chips in and hope u win VILLIANS 187NINER

Patience is key. "Those" players have always been around and always will be. Thankfully they are easy to spot and usually will aid in taking themselves out. Just make sure to get in with the best while thier around.

Well this kind of "players" are in every tournament...u cand play real poker in a freerol is hard, because people play more loose and they get lucky. To winn a freerol u need lots of luck,i can't say that there is a strategy that can make u a winner because the poker game is not made for freerol...this is just for funn.If u want to get things more serios play buy in tournament but how i said earlyer this kind of players are in very poker game.

I key to beating bad play is take notes that way you kow just what kind of hands there playing know when to push and know when to run away lol at the end of the day its poker and to beat anyone not just donks A you need to play your best B you also have to get lucky gl and hope the poker gods are with you

See really a lot of bad advice here in this thread as well.
If your stack is deep enough and you have position on them, I also should play a few more speculative hands vs them, if you hit good they often pay you and if not these hands are easy to fold.

You should play a tight game against inexperienced and bad players. That's not to say that you should fold everything other than high pocket pairs, what it means is to avoid bluffing. It won't work.

Play only the best early your not going to garnish a lot of chips till later on after the first hour un Les your donk dumps there chips with you in command

One advice I can give you: avoid them as much as you can and when having monsters: gogogogogo

There isn't so much strategy to avoid donks expect folding your hands and patiently waiting for a good hand to beat them.
When you feel like you got a nice hand just go all in with it . :D

Tight is not always right. Just play your game the way you feel comfortable. Adapting & adjusting are key factors here. The way to play against, "donks" AKA poor players depends a lot on stacks, blinds & position. Donks will have a looser than usual hand range so use that to your advantage & exploit that. Proceed with caution on low & drawing boards if you have a tight range and have completely missed the board. Avoid getting into HUGE pots with mediocre hands. Play when possible in position so you can gather more info on future streets. Also, pick your spots.

'the book' says...when yer table's tight play loose...and vice versa...but rules are there to be broken sometimes...

donks tend not to last too long in tourneys by and large...beware the rebuy donk tho early doors...a most vicious kick that baby has...yup...
a few always get through tho...its all just a matter of numbers....

maybe try and see the flop cheap if ya got good position and a half decent draw...a good range might be suited 1 gappers and double paint maybe...avoid marginal hands out of position...and target the donk when ya get premium....

glgl..:)

I hate donks. I hate everything about them, yet I, and everyone play like one . Its whether or not you get caught doing it, and whether you win or lose. There is no right way to play the cards.

So in a tourney just a bit ago, another team play. This guy to my left just had a big win, 1st hand, and took a guy out. Doubled up naturally. Then proceeds to go all in next 3 hands. So I wait, next hand AK to me, call bb of 30, sure enough goes all in, I am thinking good hand, ha cannot have a 4th one, so I call. Shows 56os. Flop j103, turn 8, river ...................wait for it, wait for it,.....................................................5. LOL.

So the next hand, he goes all in again, and his team mate call. Team mate wins. (NOT sure if he knew he was on his team, as this was villains first time to show up, week 2). The player that takes my spot has @ 1200 chips, takes his next all in, cripples him. Villain takes next 3 uncalled pots, then crushed by a 22. I should have been more patient, lol. Good Luck all.
