Lack of starting chips for League Tournaments makes it more about luck than skill

I would prefer to have more than 2000 chips to start the tournament, because the lack of starting chips for League Tournaments makes it more about luck than skill it seems to me. I'm curious as to what other league players think ..so here's a poll.
How many chips would you prefer to start the tournament with using the existing blinds and levels?
1000 (50BB)
2000 (100BB)
2500 (125BB)
3000 (150BB)
5000 (250BB)

I chose 3000. I feel its fair no matter if we all start with the same amount. 3000 chips would be perfect though, but not complaining. It would just give me a chance to make a couple more calls at a few more hands.

I chose 2500 chips. It seems most of the MTT's I have been playing lately give us 2500 and for the most part seems quite comfortable to work with...my 2 cents...

According to me suitable the present chip quantity.
the blind ones rise rather slowly so it is possible to play totally calmly
Currently ~ 3 clocks the length of the competition that according to me suits

Yeah i agree with you about the luck and if they want to give more chips that's ok too but for me its all about chip management with poker if you don't get some luck at times you can go broke if you start with 2000 or 5000 just saying

I would stay with 2000 and change the time that the blinds are up
currently i guess its 10 minutes so do it 15 or even 20.
5000- 3000 would take more time and many people play it because its a quick tourny that not takes 4-5 hours.
so i would leave it that way with maybe 5 more minutes of the blinds.

I think more starting chips would be a better tournament also! Wouldnt feel so pressured from the start to try to get ahead and depend on luck as much! 2500-3000 starting would work best we dont want this tourney lasting all night either lmao

I asgree with dudira.chip stacks are fine.just lenghten the time for blinds to raise.

I choose 2,000. If you gave everyone more chips, just think of how much longer these tournaments would last. I, personally, think 3 hours+ is long enough for 80 some players. Unless they cut down the time for players to time out every single hand they play. Besides, as long as everyone starts with the same amount of chips, does it really make a difference what the starting amount actually is?

I also chose 3k starting stack or even if they raised the blinds to 12 min. levels instead of 10 min. would give us some extra hands.

Well 3k would be nice but then the ones who come in late to get the big blinds will do the same thing so i cant see it will make to much of a difference when you have players that go allin with 3-7, j-3 , 27, etc, will still play the sameand come out smelling like a rose

Different tourney formats constitutes different playing styles.
Some adapting by players is what needs to be done, NOT changing the format.

I am not disagreeing that the games don't seem to move fast, but IMO there is no more "luck" involved than in any other games

What's wrong with 2000 chips?

It's still quiet much, the blind structure could change to be a bit slower thouht.

I agree totally with debdoespoker. How long time do you guys/gals want to play for? The tour is long enough as it is

Ehhh, depends how people want it. I wouldn't say that games that are closer to turbo / short-stack structures take less skill -- more that they are higher variance. Adjustments need to be made on the part of the player.

Having said that: I, for one, prefer non-turbo deepstack structures, so obviously I prefer a bigger stack / longer blind levels. So I voted 5000. But in this situation, it doesn't matter to me all that much.

If it were a buy-in, I might have more to say about it. As a freeroll, whatever!

10K 15 minute blinds. Thats what I look for. It's not offered too much, but it's the closest thing to real tournament feel your gonna find. First hour sux because a lot of inexperience players feel the need to over bet big time, but if you happen to avoid the donkage, it allows you to display your true poker skills.

Absolutely agree that the chips must be more. otherwise, the league is not a game, but just good luck. no poker there. and immediately had to go all in so that if you add the number of chips will be much more correct. the more the better

I am comfortable with 2000 chips. No need to change the starting chips. To be honest, I would rather not have 3000 or 5000 chips because it will make the tournament go long lol.

2000 is better than most ----you must like the deepstack tourneys lol

I voted for 5000, but that's just because I love deep stack tournaments. I'm happy with 2000 or above, any lower wouldn't be good.

In my opinion,2000 is good enough, but 2500 would be better.
