Sofa's Sick Suck Hall of Shame Events #4 & #5
Event #4The first hand, from Saturday's Event #4, involves a multi-player pot s in a hand that shows us why passive poker isn't the optimal poker strategy, and how two live cards can win a hand when they spike a pair. It's true that T2 won the final hand for Doyle in the World Series of Poker, but that was heads up. vs vs vs watch it here

Event #5 I am shamed to admit that I am inducting a hand for which I am the villain, although I must keep it real and so without any explanation here is a hand I played on my way to winning Sunday's event. My chance of winning Pre Flop -15% Flop -21% *Turn - 11%
vs watch it here
*I feel sick after watching this hand and in an effort to feel better about this obviously horrible play I will give 11% of my winnings to nineiron on Carbon Poker ($5.00)

Donkey luck works. Or it could be just Carbons dealer. Carbon is famous for suck outs. It like you can see the river card coming on the flop.

Very Noble of you, but this is poker. If people gave away money every time the bad beat someone, they wouldnt have much left to show for themselves.

Does it hurt? yes. Does it suck? for sure! but for me, idk. Kinda feels like a slap in the face.

I can see jj1970's reasoning behind that call as he was getting 5 to 1 pot odds. The problem being that he's not only out of position, but also has someone acting behind him who could re-raise, giving him no option but to throw away his extra 45 chips.
I would play any two cards like this, but only if I'm on the big blind, getting 7 to 1 or better odds, and there have been no re-raises.

I was at the table for the second hand...the tiny raise of limpers and a misread by Sofa are what prompted this, imo. I've made the same misread myself many times...but I don't usually get lucky lol.

Regardless. Sofa, nice gesture on your part...I don't think it's an insult at all. (Damn, niner, you made more money on this tourney than I did while getting off early to go watch football!)

As for the second hand the main thing that looks odd to me is the lack of a re-raise by the kings. With four people acting behind me I would re-raise that most of the time to shut out people with weak aces. You run the risk of shutting down the action, but at least you're not going to suffer the pain of losing to A-2.

As for the rest of the hand I guess I can just about see why Sofa called the 200 with his nines. He should have certainly folded to the just-about-all-in on the turn though.

Can't believe you are giving the guys $5 for sucking him out, I guess that is nice of you but I would never do anything like that, this is poker after all. Either way I hope I can run like that next weekend.

Yes,it's a great gesture but a decent one and imo if your running a page like this it kinda feels morally right just to cover up the embarassment. You never know you might start a trend and ppl might start doing the same if their hand is featured on here for e1 to see. This thread is fun and why i love and loathe poker at the same time.

Like any game of chance, luck is predetermining in Poker.
In many occasions playing like s should, normally, makes you lose a player, and play any type of cards makes you win.

As I mention good luck, is important in some mometo of a tournament.

I gotta say in all honesty. I don't think I've played any tourney in the past two years where I haven't tried to "make a play". Situations are all unique and there are times you see an aggresive player waaayyy ahead preflop or even flop suited connectors are great here if you know you opponent traps with hands like these because of the free turn card. If the stack can cover it you won't win it all until somebody is good and pissed off. Sometimes you even need to "pretend" you have the hand pre-flop until they fold firing stacks of chips hoping to poke an eye out! For me winning a tourney is a lot like finding a way through a maze. Sometimes you just gotta hop over the dead end.
