Team or no team

I am thinking of playing in the league if and when the new series begins. I am conflicted as to whether or not to join a team. If the games are all played on both days of the weekend, that would be an impossible 100% commitment for me. I do not want to disappoint any team because I cannot be present to play all of the games.
I would appreciate any input and information on my advantages or disadvantages in joining a team.
Thank You

Its a lot more fun in playing with a team in my opinion.
I guess most of the players can´t play all tourneys (like me).
But for the team score, only two members of a team have to play in a tourney.
So beeing a member of a 4 or 5 player team I guess its not a big problem if you can´t play all.

OK that makes sense as far as fun and being on a team. What about a large team vs a smaller team?

Well, thats all up to you or the team leader to decide about how many members shall participate. For me I like smaller teams of around 4 players, but thats just my opinion.

Judy the team concept is based on the games you play, unlike CC. If you can find a team that has numerous players, its easier to have less conflict when you are unable to play. You would be a solid addition to whatever team you decide to play on. Best of luck.

Its really all up to the individual if your going for single top 3, you probably need to play most of the games, if your on a team and cant make all the games then a team 3 or more is doable. Good luck whichever way you decide to go.

I have always enjoyed the "Team" concept in poker, probably even moreso than individual. Being on a Team, you always know that you have at least one other person in your corner, rooting for you to do your best. It may make some play better or at least make better choices as they know in the back of their head that others are affected by their play. As far as the size of a Team... I feel it all depends on each others' schedules, how much of the prize money do you really want to split, etc. I wish you the best wingman in your decision and your search for a Team!!

Lol @ wingman: if you like small teams, than you're in trouble: 'cause upon joining , there wouldn't be so small as the first time you saw it, I mean it will get bigger, not smaller by numbers.

Then: the team concept implies certain things, regarding one playing or not the games. It's a good thing for the team to play a game, when you would make a better than the team's (minus you) average score, if not, you're only a brick to the team, keeping it down the leaderboard... Since none is a prophet in this game (we cannot see/know the future), we all play it, and results come as it come. So you must be confident that the team will accept you as you are: one day winning the game, another busting out the first. Later edit: forgot to say: you have to accept that the others are human players, so, one day they win the game, the other they'll go bust the first of the field.

One thing I noticed is that the newcomers to the game seems to make a good run their first games - see ChrisRomeo, he played 4 games here and already hijacked the big show.

When I first started, I did not fully understand being involved in a team and what that offered. Now I fully do, and have to say be a part of a team. Even if you want to play solo, I am sure there is a team that is like that. It helps, your team could be the best. I first started by making a team and the only member was me. I was glad to get an invite to join Army of One.

You should come back to Sharks team at the new season start and come back to Pokerowned!

If you are in the team you can have fun by playing with your team mate and help them accomplish together to get a trophy etcs.
You can also win money by playing solo too :)

I also enjoy the team concept in Poker . There is nothing better than razzing a teammate for a so so finish ( unless , your that teammate ) but there is also nothing better than congratulating a teammate on a great finish or even a great hand . This is one thing that I find maddening on Carbon poker is that you can't rail your teammates & be there for them especially at a final table . On a larger team , it is not such a big deal if a player misses a game or two . Being a shift worker , I understand this completely , we all have pretty busy lives to live and lots of other things to keep us busy !

Playing with a team is definitely the way to go on this league. The team atmosphere keeps everything more interesting and fun. As long as you let your teammates know straight up that you probably won't be able to play every game you should be good.

Also as a side note, if you aren't gonna be a "regular" player, or at least not a twice-a-week player, it might be best for you to join a team that has at least 4-5 people already on it. Your team only gets points if you have more than one person representing your team, so joining a big team should allow your team to compete in every event. Just my opinion though, best of luck

I agree with fellow teammate above me. Playing in a team brings a a more competitive atmosphere to the game which in return makes it alot more fun. But this is my opinion . IM sure others might see it differently. I would suggest trying the team game and if you can play in the games on the weekends dont register for them prior. This way your team wont suffer. The last thing you want is to register for a game not show and have your blinds post the whole time. which in return hurts your team. :)
