I think poker is a game of skill, but to damn much luck get in the damn way. I think it is as much a sport as curling or something, they should replace that in the olympics for each other, i'd rather watch someone in some crazy 3rd world country take it all down caue they have no idea what they are doing. why not, happens in the games i play all the time

If chess is considered sport and are competitions of its kind .... and why not poker?? is a sport than chess and backgammon more complicated!

I'm sure in some countries its classified as a sport. But in the USA its a mind game. I think it should be concidered a sport it does take some skills and a lot of luck.

Poker in brief is game of physical skill and luck whereas sport is physical skill so i wudnt call it sport i wud say its a game because game is something u play for entertainment like video games is also a game u play for fun to entertain urself but there is no physical activity involved so u cant put it in category of sport. but one things for sure i prefer game to sport the only sport i play once in a blue moon is badminton but need to play more sport the main reason is to keep fit otherwise i wudnt bother thr r so many other forms of entertainment like computers, movies, music etc.

And I think poker sport, but many do not agree to say that this is a gamble for money. But friends, too, billiard sports and also play it for money, as there is passion. Football, hockey players play for free? also for the money, get a goal for the prize, just a lot of excitement. In all sports there is the excitement and money. So how bad poker? I agree to the ban, slot machines, casino as a roulette and other games. But poker in which we play with you, I think sports. And I believe that sooner or later he is found here in Russia and you in America legalized online poker

The world series is on espn its a sport ....i consider it a sport----look at football contracts if peyton plays next year and does so much on the field he gets extra money....no different

The whole question seems silly to me. Or, a moot point, rather. I don't support anyone prohibiting any forms of gambling, so I'm not going to side against other forms of gambling by favoring this sort of classification. Inevitably, it goes hand in hand with opinions and legislation that opposes other forms of gambling. Poker players have felt that pain already.

I played a lot of sports and was fairly good at a lot ,also a lot of games,gold is a game and a sport,pool is a game,all cards and and table games r a game and not a sport.that is my opinion,also i boxed and boxing is not a sport ,is a brutal feat between opponets. i think we all know what sports r,football,baseball etc.golf is barely a sport and much more of a game,but i know for a fact that most pga pros r very athletic and coordinated.

I hate calling poker a sport. It's like calling chess a sport. I think English is kind of lacking in a term for games of the mind which are extremely competitive and complicated mathematically. I put poker into the same category as chess and backgammon and Go.

in my humble opinion poker is not sport and poker is not a gambling game , although nvolver bets but not only depends on luck.
