I'm Interested in knowing how many people think that going all in preflop at the begging of a poker tourney is a great play. I personally think that its horrible bc you take the chance of being taking out of the tourney and for what, the measley blinds?lol I play at carbon alot and see the same play so often.. Please feel free to give your honest take on the matter

Well its not easy to say juust fold it. Its all player dependent as you can figure out who will get happy with aq. So calling allin AK early is not a bad play if you call it against the right player.

It depends on the tourney. If its a turbo and you dont have many blinds maybe 10BB left, I'd push without a second thought everytime. If the tourney just started I would never push all in because statistically you are behind if someone has a pair and you're not much of a favorite over 2 live cards.

Yea i agree that its not a bad play in a turbo tourney for sure.. If i have ak and someone pushes all in prflop I will toss it in a heart beat... I love that hand but its more trouble than its worth sometimes.. thx guys for your view points

I also like this hand but pushing allin pre flop isnt the best play i always like to see a flop and if i cant becouse someone pushed it all in then i will fold vs the rite guy and call vs bad play

It depends on the buy in. If the buy in is a small % of your BR it can be the correct play the majority of the time. There isn't many hands in your opponents range that completely dominate you. Normally i like the low variance play so i would just fold and look for better spots.

Depends if its a rebuy i say go for it.. but beginning of a reg tournament , really not my style.

Definitely not beginning of tourney, especially preflop. Later in the tourney if I'm short stacked I will. But you could risk going out against a call from 55 or something if you don't hit the flop.

Maybe could be a good play if you play in a freeroll on pokerstars with 30 000 players .

Depending on the hand, I say anything above Aq suited, except for mid pairs is an allin. You might be wondering why mid pairs aren't good for me to go allin and that's because I would like to see a flop. it just seems like every time I had a midpair there are so many over cards that it seems redundant to even have called in the first place.

I would in a free roll. In a paying game i just cant bear to go out when i have invested my hard earn cash. So for me its a Fold all the way. the game is won over time not the first hand. So the thought of me wasting my time waiting for the tourney to start getting settled and going out first hand does not appeal so i fold .

Just what the rest also says, you should consider the situation you are in. Calling an all in would for me be considered to be fairly bad, while shoving with the same hand is thought to be way better. My advice is: to a raise: Shove. to an all in : fold. Thats what I think very simply stated

I do this in freerolls but i wouldnt in a paid tourney its too risky and alot of the time you wont get called that early anyway unless your beat
