Gear up for another long poker read about Bankroll Management. I feel the reason I talk so much about this is I'm truly a person who had to learn the hard way about it, and I wanna help others avoid those same hardships.
In this post I'm going to explain how come You will consistently move up and down in stakes in SnGs, and why.
First let's talk about SnGs these games are generally fast to load up, and the amount you can get in is amazing. First what is your goal in SnGs???? is it to build a bankroll for MTTs, or is it to make money to cash out??? There is a difference, but in general the approach will be the same.
The field sizes determines the roll. this is simply because the bigger the field the higher the variance so that's why I say u will move up and down. Being rolled for a $6.50 single table SnG takes less money then being rolled for a $3.50 45 man SnG. Most are like why??? simple you have 9 men in the 6.50 one and 45 in the 3.50 that means the 3.50 is five times as large field wise....meaning ur variance will be higher.
What is the purpose of moving from 6.50 to 3.50 you may ask if you are beating the 6.50 and the answer is your money will increase so much later down the road in bigger field sngs that its a good idea to keep yourself in top shape in the bigger fields. This also teaches discipline for when you venture onward from SnGs it will help you coop with having to play lower when you hit a downswing.
Now let's look at what an ideal starting roll is. Starting in SnGs should start with Single tabled ones its generally believed that $65.00 at the $1.10 Sngs is the best to start with....moving up is something you all should be wanting to do, but the key to this is to making sure you protect yourself. $90.00 would be good enough for the 18 man 1.10 games. Basically you just gotta find a strategy that works for you stick to it. The main goal of this post was to explain the field size controls the amount you need to play at certain levels. You need less for STTs and more for 18, 45, and 90 man games.
