I thought i would give writing my own blog to help others-i would also challenge those that busted my chops for copying and pasting posts here to post one of ur own u acualy wrote urself as well her goes

like the title says changing my minset about poker-as early as i can rember i was taught the value of a buck-having grown up on a dairy farm in 1976 in upstate pa-i can remember my dad drumming into my head saying if u work hard and save ur money ul be rewarded with a good life-i should also tell you that milking started at 6am EVERY morning plus during winter i had a trapline to check and re-bait-so even as a youngster i made my own money-when i did carry it around i never kept it in my wallet always in my front pockett-remember that part-fast forward to 2009

so im now all grown up and playing on fullt tilt poker-and im on another poker forum where they hold games called rmr,s anyone here that is from that forum knows about them -back then they was still played for cash-in one month i was itm 11 times 7 of those being final tables and 2 of those being wins i scored the second most in points for any given month to date-i then went on to win against a highly respected pro-rail whom i beat in 13minutes-that monthing turning 50 bucks into 1800.00 fast forward one month

so im still playing but now not winning at all taking bad beats making every bad decision possible-going on and staying on every variaition of tilt-why i wasnt playing and different -or was i-it got so bad that i was playing at a .25-.50 rng table holding aces i got pushed on hand so i went all in aces against aces-ok i thought pay the rake wrong he managed to river a flush to win 100.00 i snapped throwing a coffee cup thru the moniter-fast forward to2012

i have since then come to realize some things that may help a few ppl
1.i had to lose the misconception that in life when we do well we get rewarded its not the same in poker-i had to come to an understanding that im going to lose in fact i need to lose-i play at cash tables so i need to lose some hands to bad beats-if i didnt the lessor player would soon lose intrest and not re-load there account-when this happens i just say next time to myself

2.i have since also become aware that its more important to make good decisions--than on winning any single hand or tourny im in why basically making good sound decisions is going to be more profitable in the long run

3.becoming emotionaly un-atatched-i try to keep my emotions in check while playing-any negative emotion i have while im playing can affect my decision making-so i dont play angry or worried or anything negative trying to remain postive even after badbeat

4.lose ur fear -remember how i guarded that money as a kid holding not in my wallet but my front pockett-i had to lose that concept altogether-i view the money i have in my account as a tool to get more money-the problem with fear is every human has it and goes thru it-i do my best not allowing fear to rear its ugly face while making a tough decision-it can only cloud my judgement

5.i now understand the different forms of tilt and how to corect it as it happens-part of the reason i stayed losing after the best month i ever had playing was the feeling like -i couldnt be beat-what a reality check that turned out to be

6.making good decisions-this i feel is a combination of things-information -making good reads putting players on a range of hands-not letting fear come into play-then backing those decisions with good solid poker-try to note an edge u have on every player u have at ur table then note it

7.i also have since come to understand why the i was playing wasnt working anymore -the game of poker is ever evolving and changing-i liken it to when tiger woods started golfing-in 2009 poker was huge on tv everywhere i turned i saw it-back then in 2009 i played very taggish poker-that style of poker doesnt work anymore the players i was facing wasnt playing abc poker but a much different style than i was playing

8.a deeper understanding of poker-i can remember when i first started playing poker i wasnt giving any thought to anything but the cards i held-basicaly playing my cards and not the player i have since came many miles from that point-i now know that in order to win i must be able to at least have a good idea of what ur holding-and even then it may come down to playing the player and not the cards-what do i think ur 2 cards are-what do u think my 2 cards are-and how would you expect me to play those 2 cards u think i hold-but remember the other player may be thinking the same thing

9.salesman -ive seen it happen many times where a players turns over a bluff only to hear crap from other player-i heard it said u play a weak hand strong and a strong hand weak-poker is all about selling a lie the better u sell the more ul make-in one of my copy and paste posts-one of the poeple said if ur not the best at the rng table u should leave-i say this is a mistake only becuase its going to be easier to sell a story that doesnt fit to a better player-where a newer player wouldnt pick up on it ive used this tactic many times in the past when playing i feel are better than me -im not talking pro just regular joes

10a.staying focussed-he are some of the things i do while im not in hand-i play a game i made up called the range game its a great way to keep ur head in the game and practise some poker reading skills-each hand im not in i try to range players as hand progresses based on my info about that player and the way there playing-when i get one right i post a check mark on a post it-every tourny im in after that i try to get the number of corect reads higher-its also one of the cheapest ways to improving ur not in the hands so its free real time practice-another thing i do is continue taking notes while not in hand
10b.things i dont do when playing watch tv-listen to radio-talk or text on phone -get overly chatty at table im on -arguing with other players-anything that might distract il aviod if possible

so to those that heckled my copy and paste posts i await ur poker post that might help the next newer player to the forum-ty all ed

Took this bit out of another post i did -number ten might help with this as well

But for starters, here are Hold'em tips for reading cards: pay attention when a player bets or calls a bet. Then ask ourselves why the player did that. For sure, it has to do with: What the player has, what the player thinks we have, and what the player thinks that we think the player has.

Well written mentalatack. It's all about decisions and making them with a clear head. The results are secondary to that.

First off there MA is that I see nothing wrong in copying and pasting good poker advice, for we all do not see everything that is written on the net or in forums, I will take and use good advice from whatever the source[apart from books, they just bore me:)]

Your article is well written and readable thank you!!

My thoughts are simple and they are OBSERVE everyhand!! even if you not in it, look back at history to check how and why its played that way. Try to keep emotions in check.....hell my poor dog who sits under my desk most times has been the brunt of many a sharp kick as I have kicked out not intending to harm him lol but kick the wall!!! Not quite gone to the extreme of smashing anything ;)

Hahahahaha CZ them mice just aint got legs to run
