$1/$2 No-Limit game; effective stacks $300.
You're dealt 7♥ 8♥. Your good, hand-reading opponent raises to $8 and you call on the button.
The flop comes 8♦ J♣ K♥. Your opponent bets $14 and you call. The turn comes J♥. Your opponent bets $30 and you call again.
The river comes 3♠ and your opponent bets $70.
What would you do?
I'd probably make the call. If you make the call on the turn in the first place, you can pretty much only hope for a boat or a flush on the river, and as you end up spiking a spade, I'd say you would have to call. If not, then the fold should be on the turn as you should decide you are beaten (KJ/8J?) already there.
I think that you have to fold that turn. He pbb won't put you on AK, JJ, KK cause you just call preflop.
He is probably betting a made hand or QT, so you are just trying to catch a bluff, and the board is kinda dry. On the other side, if you raise that on the turn, you are repping KJ, 88, 33... its a narrow range.
If the board is.. its a diferent story, he can bet with a lot of draws, so you can call more often.
I like how you think uribefache, my english isnt so good but maybe we could learn something more if we work together, the problem is that i dont see any option to send you my email by pm... = i will still watching ur posts, right now i dont have any hand to post because i re new my data base but when i get new interesting hands i will post them.
I would need to know more about the opponents. Many opponents only bet all the way to the river when they have a hand. And if he has a hand, it is likely beating yours. Also, on the flop he didn't bet a full pot so it seems like he's NOT trying to call you off, but maybe trying to lead you in. I'd fold at this point.
It would have been interesting if you would have raised his flop bet of $14. That would have really told you where you stood and maybe saved you some chips in the end, or won you the pot right there. If he had a K he would have called, but maybe would have folded with a bluff or a J, or even a little K.
Overall, I would have folded on the flop and waited for a better spot for my chips. Also, you say he's good at hand-reading, so your continual calling told him that you had a small hand, so he must have something to keep betting, and it is likely bigger than yours.
The Pot is 104 and the bet only 70$ i would reraise.
I think the hand with nuts is KJ ( because of the 4x BB raise ).
But there he would bet more after the river with full house in hoping you get your flush.
I think with these 70$ Bet he only have JJJ or 2 pair.
That's a hard decision. It's not a bad hand but isn't too good either. He could easily have pocket 9's, 10's, Q's,, A's, a J or a K. The odds are too high that they do have one, so I'd most likely fold, but it depends more on their betting pattern than anything.
