How Many on a Team

I have been reading some posts about the dividing up of winnings after a series has completed and now I have another question about teams. Assuming that at each game one or possibly even two team members cannot play, what would be an ideal number of players to have on a team? How many is too many to carry?

We like our 5 players in our team and have not added any. We usually have at least 3 players playing in a tournament. This way there is no huge pressure on members if they have a real life commitment on a certain weekend

There are different theories on this. Many like a smaller team, if you have dedicated players that will show up for all the games and can go deep most games, you have a fair shot of being near the top of the pile. Your team must have at least two players playing in a game for it to count towards your team score. Some like larger teams, so they know they will have at least two players every game. I personally think 2 - 4 is a good size team. Good luck deciding what you will do. :)

Ok that makes sense to me about having enough to cover those who cannot play. So teams of 8 or more not a good idea?

If Im not mistaking it can be up to 10 as little as 2.... anywhere between 4-6 is a good number. Good hunting... now would be the time to do it too.. End of seaon start of new one ;)

I belong to a clan we play poker at at a diff site then we found out u could only have10 players to a team i was the 10th player to sign up. but then we got more who wanted to play so we started 2nd team. SO i moved to the other team to help get them started we now have 6 good strong players.WE just pickup a new player LQQKING for team and if i can say low and behold he plays first game as team member and wins.A team supports u rails u is there for u this is just me thinking out loud and give my side of it. There is a slight scoring advantage for teams of two, and actually could be enough to make a difference overall when considering scores from more than 25 tournaments. When team score is calculated for a single tournament, it is done so by calculating the average of all team player which isn't always a whole number and often the average value has decimal point value which is then rounded off. With teams of only 2 players, the average score will either be a whole number or it will be a value with a half *(n.5), and this will always be rounded up, which essentially is a free half of a point. A team of three or more doesn't always get to round up when the team score is calculated and sometimes includes a less than .5 decimal value, in which case they actually lose a fraction of a point when rouinded down. As close as it was this spring series ii was, one could argue that this could be difference between 1st and 2nd in the end.

The reason I ask is not so much for a scoring edge as it is from a commitment to every single game standpoint. I now know the minimum is two and max is ten. This leads me to believe that to allow for absences here and there an ideal number would be anywhere from 4-6.

I think 3 to 4 players on a team is a good number many more then that and you need better then half players to go deep

Does all players split to pot or just the winner of that game. How exactly does all this work

I like having our 10 members. Its not all about the money for us. Well I don't know if I can even say that. But being my team leader, that is sure what I want. No matter what the split is at the end of the season, I just want to say we were on top. However, I'm like every team owner and the leader of that team. I want all my members to talk back and forth, even in the off season. That is not happening right now. We have removed and added and the start of the season will tell me a lot. And believe me I will remove and add until I get the team I want. If one is not a team member, then he/she can play by their self. Cold? maybe but this is different than playing ring games or reg. tournys. This is about team effort.

That's why your team leader Hipp. I just really enjoy not only this site but I have met more people here who are actually kind and cool than anywhere I been. It should be stated about my medical condition which could cause me to miss a game or just play horribly. It has happened before and well let's hope that's the end of that. Anyways, with OldHipp's attitude I should be fine. I think other teams may have a problem with me and my uncontrollable absences. But then again everyone here has a life to live and I guess poker isn't the only thing going on in life. Really? It sure is for me. lol

Right now we have 8 players on our team & our other team ( VOTF ) has 9 players . Most of us came from another forum & we have played against & with each other for a number of years & we always have fun . Although the numbers look large , it is somewhat deceiving as we also have a number of husband/wives on our teams that can’t play in the same tournament on the same day . However because of the higher number of players , there is absolutely no pressure on players to play in every game if they have commitments on a certain weekend . I believe that both our teams have dedicated poker players that will show up for most ofthe games and can & will go deep most games and therefore will score lots of points during the series . If Carbon allowed others to chat we would rail one another in our games & continue to have even more fun cheering one another on during the games . But , because of our high number of players , we may even start a 3rd team so beware of the of Villains out there stealing your chips !
