They cannot vote if they renounce their US citizenship. If they do not, for whatever reason they are in the other country, they consider themselves Americans still.

So you think our men and women serving overseas, protecting your very right to vote, should be denied theirs?

Sorry Ben but in my opinion if your an american or what ever country your part of you should be able to vote no matter where you are at the time of the election, here in Canada if your out west working you should and can vote in your municiple election and like Curtinsea if you took voting away because your not here these men and women would lose their vote because they are away keeping your country safe doesn`t seem correct...just my opinion!!

I think he's talking more about people who have moved to other countries rather than people in the military.

I don't doubt that . . . what I was pointing out was how the OP was not well thought out. Why should it be different for those who are civilians living abroad than it is for military personnel? As long as you are a citizen of the US, you should have all rights as such regardless of your current location.

Looking at the situation in this country,no matter who gets voted in they make similar errors and continually blame the previously elected governmant for its own failings.its a never ending circle of blame and failings.so frankly i couldnt give a damn who votes.
not sure about american politicians but ours continually abuse their right to claim expenses ,its a freakin joke.

My son in law was talking about foreigners beiing allowed to vote if they are paying US taxes. You have heard of the saying taxation without representation. Pretty interesting idea.

It is nice there is a non violent changing over of power without blood running in the streets in our country.

Just glad we no longer have a poll tax($1 in 1917 would be about $14 today), which discouraged some from voting.
