Played Live poker last night. LASTED ONE HAND!

I sold about $145 of my carbon the other day for some Real life cash lol, and decided last night to buy in to my local poker house cash game. I arrived and there were 7 players only playing, i recongnized everyone there from previous experiences. I arrived at midnight, 2 hours prior to closing, they tend play reallly really loose and its almost free chips.
So i bought in for $70 the blinds are $1/$2:

My first hand was dealt in UTG+1, the first person limps, I looked down on A(s) K(c), i open for $12 dollars, Next person folds, then the next calls, whcih causes two other people to call, and the initial limper to just call.
5 players going to the flop

K(d) 5(c) 4(d)

BB checks and the UTG checks, i tank for a moment and bet $33 , first folds, second person goes ALL IN for $78 , the others fold, i look down at my AK and just smile, and say wow,,, first hand huh? With almost my whole stack in there anyways i call and he odesnt like to show his hand until its over.

Turn:
K(h) The guy is mumbling plz diamond.. plz diamond....

River:
6(d)

He goes YES! i have a straight and a flush 7(d) 3(d)

and bam it was over that quick. After Rake itts still a $170+ pot.
I was sad that i lost the hand, but on the walk home i just thought to myself, what could i have doen but raise more preflop, and that is why i play poker, for people just like him that will put it all in on a flush draw and a gut shot straight draw. I got my money in good, and there is nothing else you can really do. Yes i wasnt HUGe favorite or anything but i still was ahead, prolly around 60% vs 40%

Anyways TTYL

Ouch. That's a pretty rough river. It's like you said, him putting it in on just draws is what you want. Not to mention the fact that he is in there with 73 s00ted to begin with..... Nevertheless this is poker, and bad stuff happens. All we can do is get it in ahead, right? Better luck next time. BTW, I enjoyed your post, if no one else did.

Big mike I am so sorry for your loss man, and especially the first hand of the night. Sadly I take comfort in your story and that this is a truth because to know that this happens in real life too. It makes online games not seem "set up" or tampered with. So yes you were drawn out to a bad hand, but bad beats happen everywhere and the world is spinning with the same rules and same outcomes as always. You'll make money next time bro!

Well, you bought in for $70, so it is nice you still had $75 of your $145 Carbon real life cash remaining.

Mike, I did read ur post bud, but new posts here tends to get flooded by others, more appealing (see the "bingo players" post and replies).
And, true, we want those players who chase draws at the table, yet it hurts when they hit...

Ahhh, damn tough beat. I haven't played in a live home game in over two years due to health related issues. Not so much that I couldn't, it's just by 8 or 9pm the meds had me ko'd

Now that is in the past, I hope to rejoin some games this summer.

Better cards to ya next time.

I play live and I put $ values on hands 1 and 2 $ tier ! hands AK AA KK QQ JJcost 10X BB then you dont face 5 hands to the flop the guy that calls $10-12 wont call 20$ pre flop with 7 3 unless he is going to bluff you or he has tier 1 also I bet on that

AK vs 5 opponents is like pissin in the wind, muck hand is your option and swallow the loss of preflop raise. Ya raise to isolate when you didnt do that and had more players then the law will allow you have lost.

I thought you were gonna say some story where 5 people go all in preflop and you get like aces busted lol. This kind of stuff happens all the time in cash games thats why people tend to go all in on the flop so much with just a draw because they have such a big feeling they are going to hit there outs or maybe even bluff the other person by making it look like they have a set.

Thats rough man! I always tell myself online when people make stupid moves. "A knowledgeable player would NEVER make that move at a real money table in person" and think to myself they are just a lucky donk! And the fact that it happened to you really sucks! But I think your own advantage coming in late also bit you in the butt on this one. because who knows what that guy had been threw before you got there. maybe a lot of people were catching so he thought "Sure why not". Where as if that was more towards the beginning he would have played tighter and laid it down. But if it makes you feel any better i would have most likely played it exactly the same!
