High Stakes Poker
High stakes poker games are watched by many, played by less and dominated by a few. The players residing at these levels are often professionals with celebrity status. Read the latest about the action, see the high stakes hands for yourself and find out who won or lost the biggest pots.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies is know for his aggressive play and at times enormous swings. This morning, the Finnish PLO pro hit one of his worst losing streaks in months, leading him to a $493,864 loss.
Finnish PLO expert Jens "Jeans89" Kyllönen was last night's second-biggest winner, recording a solid $155,184 profit. With the win, Kyllönen is now the biggest winner of the year with more than $1 million in profits.
Doyle Brunson is still going strong and continues to crush the Las Vegas live cash games, he writes in a new blog post. The games are big, juicy and often running for whole days, Brunson reveals.
Gus Hansen took third place and $800,000 in the Aussie Millions $250,000 Super High Roller Challenge. In a new blog post, "The Great Dane" now looks back at his run, including his role as the bubble boy in the slightly smaller $100,000 Challenge.
The high stakes games have been running hot all week, but especially two players have been feeling the heat. "patpatman" is up $446,000 for the past 48 hours, while Phil Galfond has lost more than $600,000.
Gus Hansen has had his first taste of the famous Macau action in a number of long sessions with a handful of well known pros. So far, The Great Dane admits, the experience has been positive.
Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky were among the biggest winners in the high stakes games last night, both scoring solid six-figure wins. Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond also did well with a $157,000 winning session.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies finished 2011 as the biggest winner of all on PokerStars. The Finnish high roller, however, is looking beyond the world's biggest poker site and says he is ready to find action wherever it is.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom last night faced off in what could be the last big session of the year. Blom came out on top with a $500,000 profit, sending him into a $1.5 million plus for the year.
An anonymous high stakes PLO player has been running wild on PokerStars last night and this morning. The unknown player among other things won close to $500,000 from "Fake Love888", who many believe to be Patrik Antonius.
The High Stakes Poker section is under development and expected to be launched before January 2011.
