The new agreement will see licensed eSports images made available for public use

In a new partnership between Riot Games and stock image supplier Getty Images, the upcoming League of Legends (LOL) events will have a professional photo manager. Under the agreement, Getty will be the official distribution partner and the official photo image of events like The World Championship, Mid-Season Invitational and the All-Star Event. This deal was signed for the next four years and it will also bring a wide range of images that will be available for those fans who were not able to make it to the live events.

The first live event that Getty is expected to cover is the 2020 World Championship in China, which will be held later this year. In addition to that, the stock image company will also license images from previous LOL events, including photos from the first-ever World Championship from 2011. Getty will have pictures from the 2016 and 2017 Worlds events available as part of its Global Esports Collection as well as images from the 2019’s World Championship Final, which are already available for fans to enjoy.

The LOL eSports community has been one of the biggest, most popular leagues ever since its beginnings almost a decade ago. Riot Games started looking for an image hosting site that could keep up with the constant growth the league is still experiencing. “Getty Images has been the premier source of sports photography for more than 25 years. We are thrilled to have League of Legends Esports images discoverable in their library alongside the best in sports, music, and entertainment,” said Riot Games Esports head of global partnerships Naz Aletaha.
