The Microgaming Poker Network, formerly dubbed the Prima Poker Network, is a highly recognized
online poker network of considerable girth. It is the virtual home of a plethora of
online poker sites, each branded in their own manner, but all powered by the same frontend and backend platforms.
Through superior marketing techniques and immense poker gaming variety, the Microgaming Poker Network has united thousands of players worldwide.
The Microgaming company is one of the earliest known online gambling companies, first established in 1994 as an online casino software company, Microgaming launched the Prima Poker Network in 2001. By 2005, it was the world’s largest online poker network. Though that presence has declined over the years, and the name Prima Poker Network was dropped, the Microgaming Poker Network remains one of the top
online poker networks in the industry.
Licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, the Microgaming Poker Network no longer accepts players from the United States. This was the inevitable result of a court case, brought about by the governor of Kentucky in 2008. The commonwealth filed a lawsuit again 141 online gambling domains, Microgaming.com being one of them.
To avoid any possible recompense, Microgaming agreed to pull out of the US market entirely before the case was concluded. Ironically enough, the defendants technically won the case when it was decided that Kentucky did not have jurisdictional rights to seize domain names from offshore operators. The case was dropped.
Regardless of its non-US position, the Microgaming Poker Network has continued to see substantial success, providing thousands of online
poker players with an altogether entertaining, highly functional poker platform in conjunction with massive weekly networked tournament prize pools.
