American Cari Bershell yesterday became the third Loose Cannon this season to end the show with a profit. Berhell, who was up more than $100,000 during the show, took back home a $26,900 profit.
Cari Bershell from Las Vegas, who usually works as Admission Officer at DeVry University, was the fourth so-called Loose Canon battling with the pros in Season 2 of PokerStars The Big Game.
Even though the opponents included WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel, Eugene Katchalov and
Jason Mercier, Bershell was nonetheless not afraid to tangle with the big boys.
After the fourth chapter out of the all in all five episodes, she had a solid profit of $55,200. The female amateur increased this amount early in the show after she hit top pair against billionaire Guy Laliberte's second pair in a $120,000 pot.
The hand increased Bershell's total stack to more than $200,000 out of the $100,000 she started with when the show began on Monday.
Unfortunately for the Admission Officer, she ran into a cooler against Laliberte a few hands later. Laliberte held A-K, while the Loose Cannon had A-10. The flop was magical for Bershell as it came A-10-4, but she chose to just call a continuation bet from the Cirque de Soleil founder.
On the turn came a crucial king giving Laliberte a better two pair. Laliberte led out a pot-bet, called by Bershell. The river came a 6 and Bershell called a $50,000 bet from Laliberte who scooped the massive $160,000 pot.
Bershell's surplus was at this stage almost gone but she continued to play good poker and was nevertheless not scared to put in several re-raises in the closing hours of the show's 150 hands.
All in all Bershell ended up with a stack of $126,900, earning $26,900 to herself.
The biggest winner this week was the professional sports game better Bob Voulgaris with a $131,600 profit, whereas Eugene Katchalov, who did not pick up many good hands, dropped $101,900.
