Daniel Negreanu has shared a somewhat mystic story with his fans on Twitter, claiming that a total stranger walked up to him and handed him $125,000 in cash.
The story was relayed via
Negreanu's Twitter account, where he posted two short messages to tell about the unusual incident.
"Guy I'd never met before just handed me $125k in cash cause he had "no use for it and had to fly out". Man do I live in a strange world," Negrenau tweeted.
Negreanu revealed that he had never seen the stranger before, but knew him from his online name.
"Swear I'd never seen him before but knew the online name. It's just so surreal. And no, I didn't even count it," he added.
The strange incident has since spun off to an entire thread on
TwoPlusTwo, where posters are questioning the veracity of Negreanu's claims.
The story - indeed almost too good to be true - is by some thought to be made up, either as a joke or as an attempt to stir up attention.
Other again claim that Negreanu was in fact swapping money with the stranger in return for credits on
PokerStars, which the Canadian represents as a pro.
Remarkably, the incident comes just shortly after Negreanu shared another story about a forgotten cash prize at the Rio casino.
Here, the popular pro alleged that he had walked up to the cashier to claim a minor cash from a WSOP event, only to be told that he had a $25,000 uncollected cheque waiting for him from last year.
