Daniel Negreanu has reacted fiercely to the nomination of Annie Duke for the 2011 Poker Hall of Fame. Duke and her brother Howard Lederer have no place in the Hall, Negreanu says.
Daniel Negreanu has reacted with contempt after learning that Annie Duke is among the 11 nominees for the 2011 Poker Hall of Fame.
Negreanu, who has been squaring off with Duke on several occasions earlier, said that he does not understand why Duke is nominated for the prestigious hall, and that neither her nor her brother, Full Tilt Poker boss
Howard Lederer, have deserved the right to a place among the remaining poker greats.
"For what?" Negreanu replied to
PokerListings.com when asked about Duke's nomination at the ongoing WSOPE Europe in Cannes.
"For robbing people at UB? Owing Russ Hamilton money and never paying him back? For stealing money from people at the poker table? For representing poker in the worst light imaginable when she was on the Celebrity Apprentice? For all those things, then yes," he blasted.
"If you took out the 'F' and added an 'Sh' in word fame, then yes, I think she should be inducted. Along with her brother, the Lederer family would be the king and queen of the Poker Hall of Shame," he added, with clear reference to Lederer's role in the downfall of Full Tilt Poker.
It is not the first time Negreanu fires a harsh tirade at both Duke and Lederer.
Last year, the Canadian star let his mouth run in
an interview with with Poker Player Magazine, among other things calling the former UB pro "a fucking cunt".
Then, just one week ago, it was Lederer's turn to receive some unkind words from Negreanu, as he used his appearance in
a video interview to call the Full Tilt management, headed by Lederer and Ray Bitar, "idiots" for the way the have handled the site's rapid decline.
Despite an impressive personal record, which includes more than $14.6 million in lifetime earnings and four WSOP bracelets, Negreanu has never been nominated for the Poker Hall of Fame himself.
At 37 years of age, he will have to wait at least three years before he can be considered, as the WSOP protocols dictate that all candidates must be at least 40 years old before they can be inducted into the Hall.
