French government to expand online poker game selection
The French government regulator ARJEL has recommended that licensed sites are allowed to offer more variations of online poker games. As a result, French players could soon be playing in new games like Omaha 8 and Stud.
French online gambling regulator ARJEL has recommended that the licensed sites in the country are allowed to expand their current poker game offering, Pokerfuse.com reports.

French sites holding a license are currently only allowed to offer Hold'em games in Limit and No Limit formats and Pot Limit Omaha.

However, following a review of the French online gambling market, ARJEL has now recommended that more games are added to the sites' selections.

The recommendation could introduce variations such as Omaha 8 and Stud games, according to ARJEL to "prevent players escaping to more diversified illegal sites."

The report from ARJEL further reveals that the regulatory body looked at thirty different poker variations in consultation with player associations, before settling on three or four new formats.

While this leaves the door open for certain new game types, others have not been mentioned as possible additions at all.

This goes for low-ball games like Razz, which in turn would be needed to complete the H.O.R.S.E. format.

There is also no mentioning of raising the current limits for the existing games, which are currently $10/$20 for PLO, $5/$10 for No-Limit Hold'em and $10/$20 for Fixed Limit Hold'em.
