The Epic Poker League's first main event has reached its final table. The six-player finale will be played later tonight, and will spearheaded by Hasan Habib, who holds the lead ahead of Jason Mercier.
The inaugural Epic Poker League $20,000 Main Event is ready to find a winner, after a six-player final table was set late last night.
The final table qualifiers were found after three days of play at Palm's Casino in Las Veges, seeing a host of American and international
poker stars sign up to create a 137-player starting field and a $3,140,000 combined prize pool.
Day 3 began last night with UK Titan Poker pro Sam Trickett holding the chip lead, as he became the first player to reach 1 million chips.
After a series of tough hands, though, Trickett was eliminated in 11th place for $49,360.
The final hand of last night's play similarly sent out Adam "Roothlus" Levy in a brutal manner in seventh place, as he moved all-in with pocket queens.
Levy was called by David "Chino" Rheem with pocket kings, but Levy managed to take over an unlikely lead by flopping a full house with queens over aces.
Another ace on the river, however, sent Rheem's kings in front again, Levy hit the rail, and the final table was set.
The final six survivors will now return later tonight, with Hasan Habib holding the chip lead with 1.65 million chips.
He is followed by
Jason Mercier in second with 1.49 million and David Rheem in third with 1.43 million, while Erik Seidel,
Gavin Smith and Huck Seed will take care of the remaining three seats.
All players are now sure to collect at least $107,980, while the winner can look forward to a $1,000,000 first prize, accompanied by the first-ever Epic Poker League Championship Ring.
