Isaac Haxton and Viktor Blom will return to the SuperStar Showdown arena this Saturday in a special edition of the heads-up series. Each player will bring $500,000 to the tables, with one winner taking a cool $1 million.
Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Isaac "ike" Haxton will be making a return to the SuperStar Showdown battlefield this Saturday, as the popular heads-up series returns to PokerStars.
The two players have met each other on two occasions before in the series, but will be putting on a special show this weekend as they square off for a third duel.
The SuperStar Showdown matches are normally played with a 2,500-hand limit on varying stakes, but for Saturday's game this limit will be removed altogether.
Instead, each player will bring $500,000 to the tables, and then play until one player has eventually lost all of his roll in a special winner-takes-all format.
The duelers will play for four hours on Saturday, beginning at 18.00 CET, and will continue until the bitter end. In the case that none of the players have managed to bust each other by the end of the four hours, play will simply continue on Sunday, then Monday and so on.
Adding to the excitement,
PokerStars has also decided to up the stakes a notch, from $100/$200 in the previous meeting to $200/$400 in the new encounter.
The match will surely be an interesting one to follow for the many railbirds, who have tuned into the SuperStar Showdown throughout the past years, as Haxton remains the only player to have effectively beat Blom in his own signature series.
The American pro first beat Blom in the very first game of the series for a $41,701 profit, and just a few weeks ago he repeated the achievement by digging himself out of a massive hole to overcome the Swede with a marginal $5,093 win.
Besides these two matches, however, Blom remains unbeaten in the series, which was introduced shortly after he signed with Team PokerStars Pro in December 2010.
