Jason Mercier has confirmed that he too will be taking part in the record $1 million BIG ONE For ONE DROP event at the 2012 WSOP. Mercier has put down the deposit and is now taking bids for parts of his action at the tables.
Jason Mercier is the latest player to have confirmed his participation in the $1 million dollar buy-in BIG ONE For ONE DROP event, set to take place during this year's World Series of Poker.
The Team PokerStars pro revealed that he has put down the money for the tournament on Saturday, pooling him with players like
Patrik Antonius,
Gus Hansen,
Tom Dwan, Jonathan Duhamel and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.
Mercier, who has already won two WSOP bracelet despite his young age, also revealed that he will be looking to take bids for pieces of his action, with each percent costing potential backers $11,000.
"Just put down my deposit to play ONE DROP! 1 million buy-in… #Nobigdeal. Got one month to sell action I guess. Get me at 1.1, so $11,000 for 1%" Mercier
tweeted this weekend.
Mercier has already produced some healthy results in other high roller events across the globe, including a $944,847 win in the £20,000 High Roller Event at the 2008 European Poker Championship, where he defeated
John Juanda heads-up.
Still, with a combined prize pool of almost $50 million, a big score in the ONE DROP event would likely give him the biggest single cash of his career.
Mercier's confirmation to the starting line-up follows that of several other pros in the recent weeks, including Sam Trickett, Andrew Robl and
Phil Hellmuth.
According to
Pokernews, the final list for the 48-player capped event will be released later this month.
The tournament itself will finish off this year's World Series, and will be played from July 1st to July 3rd.
