Mike "The Mouth" Matusow is among the 19 pros who Groupe Bernard Tapie claims owe Full Tilt Poker money. Matusow, however, denies to be in debt to the troubled site.
Mike "The Mouth" Matusow has denied to be in debt to Full Tilt Poker, although Groupe Bernard Tapie has claimed the opposite and listed Matusow among the 19 pros who according the investor group owe the
poker site a combined $16.5 million.
The case has created headlines throughout the past week, with GBT saying that the unpaid debts could potentially harm or halt the ongoing takeover negotiations between the Tapies, the DOJ and Full Tilt Poker.
Among the pros mentioned by name by the Tapie group are players like
Phil Ivey,
Erick Lindgren, Barry Greenstein and
David Benyamine, as well as Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, who the group claims owe $700,000.
According to
PokerUpdate.com, the claim against Matusow comes directly from Groupe Bernard lawyer, Benham Dayanim, who confirmed the amount in an interview yesterday.
Dayanim also revealed that despite the group's intents to reach out to Matusow, the former Full Tilt pro has yet to respond.
"Nearly $700,000. Mr. Matusow has not responded to our attempts to reach him to discuss the matter," Dayanim said.
Matusow himself, however, does not seem to agree with the claims against him.
In
a tweet sent out this week, Matusow categorically denies to owe the troubled poker site anything.
"For all my fans out there, just to let you all know I don't owe Full Tilt anything, why my name is mentioned I don't know," Matusow said.
The Tapie group has since revealed to be in contact with several of the other 19 pros about repayment agreements, however without mentioning specifically who of them have agreed to pay back their debts.
