Daniel Negreanu has posted a blog with his goals for the 2012 poker year. The Canadian star among other things says that he aims to have a better year than fellow Team PokerStars pro Jason Mercier.
Daniel Negreanu has revealed a number of his goals for 2012, including his aspirations to have a better year than fellow Team PokerStars pro Jason Mercier.
Writing on his CardPlayer blog, Negreanu has posted ten dedicated goals for him to achieve over the next 12 months, some more ambitious than others.
The reference to
Jason Mercier, however, is not to be understood in competitive terms, but rather as a way for the Canadian star to keep himself up to date with today's tournament game.
"8. Have a better year than Jason Mercier. He is simply the standard today in terms of consistently, routinely cashing for over a million dollars year after year. He is a grinder, he is young and he cares. There is no one in poker today that reminds more of myself when I was 25 than Jason. He is a winner at poker and life. His consistent success has motivated me to get back on top of the game I love," Negreanu writes.
The Team PokerStars icon also hopes to regain the top spot on the all-time money list after losing it to Erik Seidel in 2011.
In order to achieve this, Negreanu will have to cash for around $2 million more than Seidel this year, but the star remains confident that he can do so.
"(…) I'm now behind by about $2.2 million on one of the lists, so I'll be looking for a huge year to catch up," he writes.
Also on the list for Negreanu, who has already cashed for $250,900 in the $100,000 PCA Super High Roller this year, is winning a WSOP bracelet and another major tournament title, outside of the WSOP.
