Daniel Negreanu discusses
TV appearances in his latest blog on Full Contact Poker. According to the talkative Canadian, the televised
high stakes games are in need of more action.
Negreanu, who is a regular on both The Big Game and High Stakes Poker, sees the televised high stakes games as being a great opportunity for many up-and-coming, younger poker players. But to "Kid Poker", too many simply fail to take advantage.
"The Big Game offers many young, good players the possibility to make a name of themselves, but sadly many of them have failed miserably and haven't made an impression" Negreanu writes.
Negreanu also takes his time to list some good advice to
poker players, who aspire to appear on the popular TV shows. Among other things, Negreanu suggests that the youngsters ease up and start thinking less about moneymaking and more about entertaining the audience.
"Think about your long-term EV. Try to create some action and be creative. Be real and don't take 20 minutes to take a decision. It's that simple. Nobody wants to watch a player who doesn't say a word, who doesn't want to straddle, and who is only there to take advantage of an entertaining poker show"
Negreanu has not done too well on the televised poker shows himself. Especially High Stakes Poker has been hard on Negreanu's bankroll, leaving the PokerStars Pro with an all-time record loss of $1,717,850, by far the biggest for any of the participants so far.
