PartyPoker has surprisingly decided to get rid of all of the site's high stakes games on both NLHE and FL tables. The decision has been made to counter declining traffic and protect players.
PartyPoker has surprisingly decided to eliminate all of its
high stakes games, the site has announced this week.
The change was introduced without any further warning, and means that it is now no longer possible to play any games above $5/$10 NL or $30/$60 FL.
The decision, PartyPoker said, was made to improve the settings for the site's players and to serve the common good of the
online poker ecology.
"We have removed some of our super high stakes games, this decision has been taken to make improvements to our poker ecology and in our players best interest," the site said in a statement to
Pokerfuse.
"We believe this change will improve the action at our tables and is in the best interest of the poker room as a whole," the statement added.
The change of policy will only apply to cash games, and there has been no further indication that PartyPoker plans to impose changes to its MTT or SnG offering.
While PartyPoker does not mention any commercial reasons for introducing the changes, Pokerfuse speculates that the decision may be related to a decline in traffic to the site in recent months.
Cash game traffic at PartyPoker is down 50% compared to last year, a decline which is thought to be attributable to the introduction of PokerStars' wildly popular Zoom Poker earlier this year.
