Phil Ivey this morning came within inches of securing himself his fifth WSOP bracelet after reaching heads-up play in Event#17, the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em.

Ivey entered the tournament alongside a stellar field of 179 runners, and created headlines throughout the weekend by sweeping aside most of the competition until he was eventually heads-up against Andy Frankenberger.

The two would go on to play a long and very even heads-up battle which lasted up until just a few moments ago.

In the very end, however, Frankenberger managed to take over a commanding chip lead, before he could scoop in the win and the second bracelet of his career.

The event was Ivey's second run at a WSOP bracelet this weekend, after he also managed to make the final table of Event #15, the $5,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low.

Here too, however, he fell shortly before the bracelet was handed out, as he finished in seventh place for a $34,595 consolation prize.

His runner-up finish in this morning's event will produce a healthy cash of $275,559, bringing the former Full Tilt Poker pro's lifetime cashes to a stunning $16.5 million.

Meanwhile, Frankenberger could celebrate his second bracelet victory, following his first triumph, which came in a $1,500 NLHE event during last year's series.

Today's win will also give him $445,899, bringing his lifetime total to a little more than $2.5 million.
