PokerStars announces new watch trophies for EPT winners
PokerStars has announced a new collaboration with watchmakers HD3. As a result of the new partnership, all future EPT winners will receive a Slyde trophy watch worth around €5,500.
PokerStars has announced a new partnership with HD3 watchmakers, who will be supplying a new range of trophy watches to the winners of the European Poker Tour's Season 9 events.

The watch, called "Black and Steel" is worth €5,480 and will be handed out to each of the six Main Event winners of Season 9.

The first watch will already be handed out next month, as the EPT launches its new season at the EPT Barcelona from August 15-25.

Apart from the Main Event champions, the winner of the EPT Grand Final in Monaco will also receive a special "Black and Rose Gold" edition of the Slyde watch, worth €9,000.

"The EPT is delighted to be working with Slyde by HD3, and are very pleased to be offering our winners these beautiful watches as part of their prize," said EPT President Edgar Stuchly according to the PokerStars Blog.

"We are looking forward to an exciting Season 9, and the fact that we are working with such a prestigious brand of luxury Swiss watches shows the appeal of the European Poker Tour to companies outside of poker," he added.

Apart from the stop in Barcelona in August, the ninth season of the European Poker Tour will see events held in San Remo, Prague, the Bahamas, Deauville, London, and Berlin, before the tour's culmination at the Grand Final in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

I'm a fan of watches, but not for poker events. This beats the small little glass trophy they've been handing out, but still don't like it. Just take that 5, 500 and make a bracelet. After the Big Drop, I just don't like big ugly watches for prizes

I am not digging these watches. I think its a cop off of the cooler gold bracelets that the WSOP gives out. The technology is probably cool, but it doesn't represent poker in any way. I would much rather have the $5,500 that they watches are work. Give me the cash, save ur watch. YOUR WASTING BOTH OUR TIME. Pun intended.

I dont like the idea of the watch. If I were to win an event i would want a trophy so that i can remember the event, not some watch that has nothing to do with it.

The €25,000 High Roller event at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo has attracted one of the biggest elite fields in the history of the EPT. Phil Ivey is among the chip leaders with 25 players left.
