PokerStars continue to rule the online poker industry, according to a new online poker scorecard by consultancy firm Gaming Edge Associates. The Isle of Man-based operator checked in first in eight of 13 categories.
PokerStars continue to be the world's leading
online poker site, according to a new report from igaming consultancy firm Gaming Edge Associates.
The results of the GEA Poker Edge Scorecard was published today by
eGaming Review, and contains 13 different categories which are used to measure the overall performance of sites, weighing in factors such as payments, responsible gaming and games offered.
Of these 13 categories, PokerStars ranked first in eight, EGR writes.
The performance of PokerStars positions the site heavily on top of the ranking ahead of its biggest competitor Full Tilt Poker, whose results were calculated before the happenings of Black Friday.
Regardless, the two companies still hold the upper hand on the market, the report says, stating that "Star and Tilt are a long way in front."
Other sites or
networks who impressed included Merge, described by the consultancy as the network to have gained to most over the most categories, and 888's Dragonfish Network.
Zynga also entered the list for the first time despite not offering real-money play, mainly due to the network's massive performance in player numbers, which are estimated to surpass 30 million active users.
One of the lowest ranked networks was
Entraction, coming in 15th out of 17, according to the consultancy as a result of a lack of "consistent focus and budget to improve."
PokerStars also continues to rank higher than any other real-money site in terms of active players, according to
Pokerscout.com with almost 30,000 cash game players and more than 40,000 during peak hours.
Number two is
PartyPoker, followed by
iPoker and the
Ongame Network, while Full Tilt Poker has been temporarily removed from the ranking in the light of recent events.
