PokerStars has released the schedule for the upcoming World Championship of Online Poker, set to be played in September on the world's biggest poker site. The tournament series will feature 62 events spread across 22 days.
PokerStars has unveiled the full schedule for the world largest
online poker tournament series, the World Championship of
Online Poker, also known as WCOOP.
The 2012 WCOOP will feature a large number of events for the serious-minded tournament player, promising grand cash prizes and specially designed WCOOP bracelets for its winners.
The series will begin on Sunday September 2 and will run every day until September 23.
The cheapest tournament will be a $109-buy-in event, while the culmination of the series will be the $10,000 Main Event, set to be played on September 23rd.
All in all, PokerStars promises 62 events with guaranteed prize pools, more than enough to attract scores of hopeful tournament grinders.
Last year, the WCOOP handed out a record-breaking $47,120,800 in prize monies, with the biggest lump going to Danish pro Thomas "Kallllle" Pedersen.
This happened as Pedersen took home the Main Event to secure the biggest online score of the year, worth $1,260,018.
PokerStars has not yet put a number on this year's guaranteed prize pool, but is due to do so very soon, according to the
PokerStars Blog.
