PokerStars to sponsor Brazilian Series of Poker
PokerStars has announced the sponsorship of the Brazilian Series of Poker. The parties hope to be able to attract more players to the upcoming events through online satellites on PokerStars.
PokerStars has today announced that it will be teaming up with the Brazilian Series of Poker in a new sponsorship deal.

The announcement was made this morning on the PokerStars Blog, and will further position PokerStars as one of the world's leading organizers of live tournaments, perhaps best known for its European Poker Tour and Heureka Poker Tour series.

The first event on the Brazilian Series of Poker under the PokerStars banner will be the upcoming stop in São Paulo, set to be played from July 26-31 at the Holiday Inn.

The event is expected to attract a large number of Brazilian pros and online qualifiers, including Brazilian Team PokerStars pro Andre Akkari, who described the new partnership as "unique."

"Incredible news! It will be great to travel all over Brazil playing in the outstanding BSOP circuit," Akkari said.

"This is a truly unique opportunity to see the growing poker scene all over the country."

The partnership with PokerStars will also likely mean bigger tournament fields, as the series is now able to offer online satellites for players who wish to try to qualify for the events, said David Carrion, Director for Live operations in Latin America for Pokerstars.

"We expect to attract bigger tournament fields by offering more chances to qualify online for free, and therefore increasing participation from many more enthusiasts of the sport," Carrion said.

In addition to the São Paulo stop, the BSOP will also visit Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza and Balneário Camboriú.

For more information about the Brazilian Series of Poker, see the BSOP website.

I would not want to win big there. The lead the world in random theft and i am sure they will be out in full force. Do not misunderstand me though, i'll take my chances if given the opportunity. It would just be the last place i wanna go and take down a huge tournament.
