Sahamies hits major heater, up $444,000 in one day
Ilari Sahamies is back at the online tables, where he yesterday struck a major winning streak in some of the biggest games on PokersStars. The Finnish pro bagged a full $444,000 in just 864 hands.
Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies is back in action in the big PLO games on PokerStars and celebrated by going on a major winning streak last night.

The Finnish PowerPoker pro is among the few superstars who has not been in action at the 2012 World Series of Poker, but looking at his latest results he has no need for playing tournament poker to make big scores.

Playing in a couple of $200/$400 PLO games yesterday, Sahamies managed to bank a full $444,000 in just 864 hands - a record run for the Finn this year.

The money came mainly from run-ins with Sander "Berndsen12" Berndsen, "Phisherman36" and Terje "Terken89" Augdal, according to Highstakesdb.com.

The biggest hand of the session was worth a whopping $216,871, and occurred as Sahamies rivered a straight against his two opponents, who both missed their flush draws.

With the win, totaling exactly $443,736, Sahamies has now managed to turn around all of his losses for 2012, and is now showing a modest profit of $525 for the year.

The biggest winner of the year so far is "EireAbu", who is up $3,051,326, while "Zypherin" continues to be in the hole by $2,708,561 to make him the biggest overall loser of 2012.

High Stakes poker is a JOKE...they are not any better and probly worse than most players here for that fact...you play 2c/4c or 200/400 its the same game same tricks and same donks playin...imagine they were all chasing cards and Sahamie catches his straight, does this make him a good player, give me a break...up a measly $500 for the year halarious...this shouldn`t even be news worthy!

This guy is a (rich) joke. He either has terrible luck or extreme luck playing PLO. PLO in my opinion is one of the most luck inspired games in poker. Everyone chases a draw, and when you hit it you simply out bet the other guy. The fact that a guy like Sahamies makes 400 k in a session and profits 525 proves that. There's a reason guys like Sahamies and Blom will never do anything in live poker.

max...errrr...didnt blom just win the hi rollers event in monte carlo..??...

i'm actually an admirer of blom...he crushed the worlds best online and made millions, only to get done in by the twin brians....but they had to share their hands to do it...it took both of em to beat Blom...i think that says something...and he came back, and is now doing errrr.... rather well on stars...

but i agree...PLO is a game of pure aggression and luck....and bankroll....ya play with yer roll as well as yer chips....not my cup of tea...too much swings and variance....but i can see why some like it.

You're right, I wasn't thinking too much, as usual. Blom has done fairly well in some live tournaments. He certainly is aggressive though. Sometimes I wonder if aggression is overvalued sometimes. It can make you successful, but it can also kill your bankroll if you're not too careful. His style certainly suits a game like PLO, but the swings are too much for me, as you said monkey

You know people say this and that about the high stakes players and you know what i honestly think they are not any different than a regular player....think about it!!! i have seen rich guys with no care in the world playing high limits and playing terrible....ive seen people with no money playing with alll their money to try and beat the next level they are approaching....it really doesnt matter....you see all types of donks on each level you play.....i give a big props to these players who play these limits....you have to also understand with these limits its easier imo to bluff some1 out of a pot 3/4 bet even 5 bet some1 out.....people playing for dollars are more or less goin to call you b.c they wanna be that next hero who makes a play....not realizing the fact that u can bluff a good player...not a bad 1....that being said....iilari being only up over 500 or so for the yr makes this all actually real and shows the true swings poker has on every stake player.....i have watchedd him for along time...online...live events....and i obv will say he isnt as well live as online....prolly for the fact that online is diff than live....all i know is if you lost a half a million in a yr/day/month/week/ im sure you will feel the pain and would only hope to make that back.....another thinkg is that they are playing with money that is expected to be lost.....you have to be out of ur mind if u think for 1 second this guy dont got the finest things......alli know is that he is a beast in poker and he has plenty of money....
