Sam Trickett was one of the most successful pros in 2011, cashing for more than $4.5 million. In a new openhearted interview, the young UK pro now reveals a bit of what's going on once the cameras are turned off.
Team Titan Poker pro Sam Trickett had a phantom year in 2011, cashing for an astonishing $4.5 million in some of the biggest tournaments in the world.
Trickett's run among many other things included taking first place in the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event, the first place in the $100,000 High Roller at the Aussie Millions, and just days later, second place in the Aussie Millions $250,000 Super High Roller.
He also became the first player to cash for more than $1 million on three different continents within one year.
In a new interview with the WPT Magazine's video channel, Trickett now answers a number of readers' questions, in the process sharing some details of his high roller life - including how he is constantly being asked for money by people he doesn't know.
"Yes, especially through Facebook. I get so many private inbox messages all the time from people asking me for random stuff. I've had people asking me to bail them out, buy their house, £40,000, to get them out of debt and so on," Trickett says.
"Some people ask for a few hundred quid, and you can't really say that you don't have it, because they will know you do, so you continuously have to come up with excuses for why you can't give anyone any money or stake them," he adds, stressing that he doesn't stake anyone apart from close friends.
In the 15-minute interview, Trickett also describes how he handles issues with banks and hackers, who are trying to steal his money, as well as discusses his dreams of winning a WSOP bracelet and the recent action in Macau.
"There are quite a few pros out there at the moment," he says about the famous games.
"The games are quite tough," he adds, also revealing that he has both lost and won "quite a few big hands" at the Macau tables.
