The World Series of Poker Africa will begin in Johannesburg, South Africa, on February 21. Hosting this year's series will be none other than five-time WSOP bracelet winner and 1998 Main Event Champion, Scotty Nguyen.
The WSOP has announced that five-time bracelet winner Scotty Nguyen will be the host of the upcoming WSOP Africa, set to take place in Johannesburg at the Emerald Casino from February 21-26.
The Word Series of Poker Africa was first played in 2010, and saw South African pro Warren Zackey walk away with the Main Event title and a $231,956 first prize.
Since then, the WSOP Africa has been granted the official status of a WSOP regional series event, meaning that all winners of the altogether six events will be given WSOP Championship rings.
The festivities will kick off on February 21 with a $350 buy-in NLHE Ring Event. The series' highlights will be the $3,300 Main Event beginning on February 24, and a special $10,400 High Roller Event, set to begin on February 23.
Scotty Nguyen will be hosting the series as an official ambassador, already now promising for some entertaining days in South Africa.
"You know, the Prince has been all over the world baby, you name it: Australia, Asia, Europe, but this is my first time going to South Africa and I'm so excited to come out and share this great game we love with the players there, to get to know them and to just have a good time baby," Nguyen said, according to

"Just make sure the people at the Emerald protect me from any lions and I promise you we'll have a lot of fun baby!" the charismatic veteran added.
Nguyen himself has already celebrated great successes at the World Series, and is perhaps best known for his 2008 win in the H.O.R.S.E. $50,000 Championship, where he made one of the most memorable and controversial final table appearances in the history of the series.
Nguyen is also a WSOP Main Event title holder following his 1998 win, which gave him a cool million dollars and shot off his career.
