The European Poker Tour's Copenhagen stop is underway at Casino Copenhagen in Denmark. Just 48 players survived Day 1A, with EPT London runner-up Stephen O'Dwyer taking an early chip lead.
The European Poker Tour has reached Copenhagen, where the €5,000 Main Event went underway yesterday afternoon.
The event is played at the Casino Copenhagen at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the heart of the Danish capital, and saw 83 players sign up for Day 1A.
Among the many players who had opted for the first opening day were several of the EPT's most seasoned pros adding to a large number of well-known names from the Scandinavian pro scene.
No one could however keep up with EPT London runner-up Stephen O'Dwyer, who surged through the counts throughout the day to finish with a 190,975 stack and the early chip lead.
O'Dwyer according to the PokerStars Blog showed great skills throughout the day, and will only be watching out for Lauri Varonen in second place, who finished with 165,150 chips.
Also through in the 48-player field of survivors are a couple of well-known names, including the two former EPT champions Roberto Romanello and David Vamplew.
Day 1B is currently underway at the Casino Copenhagen venue, and here 215 players have so far showed up, bringing the total count for the event to almost an even 300.
Today's starting list consisted of a host of stars from far and wide, including players like Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Johnny Lodden and Finnish
high stakes PLO shark and 2009 EPT Copenhagen champion, Jens "Jeans89" Kyllönen.
Halfway through the day, Ashley Mason is now topping the counts with 95,000 chips, followed by among others Juha Helppi and Michael Tureniec in the top-ten.
Players like Mickey "Mement_mori" Petersen, Anton Wigg, Luca Pagano, Theo Jørgensen and Kevin Vandermissen are all also still alive.
Play in Copenhagen will continue until late tonight, before the two starting fields are merged for tomorrow's Day 2.
