A District judge has accepted to allow Black Friday indictee John Campos to plea guilty on a misdemeanor charge. Campos faced up to 35 years in jail, but only played a minor role in the charges against him, prosecutors said.
Utah has become the first U.S. state to take actions against the possibility of federal online gambling regulation. Lawmakers last week signed a new bill that prohibits all types of online gambling in the state, now and in the future.
Jeremy Johnson of St. George, Utah, is accused of hiding $51.4 million earned primarily by illegally processing online poker payments. The money was hid by moving funds and gold around a large number of shell companies.
Utah Representative Stephen Sandstrom has introduced a bill, which would allow Utah to opt out of a federally regulated online gambling scheme. Sandstrom wants to keep Utah free of online gambling, he says.
